About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Director,Children's Media & Education Engagement, the Educational EngagementProducer will develop, craft and deliver top quality original productions forPBS NC. The Educational Engagement Producer will take a "learnersfirst" approach and look for ways to best serve PBS NC's diverse learnerswith the content produced, as well as work with the education, marketing andcontent teams to build and promote PBS NC's Education and Innovation services.This position provides creative and technical leadership from inception tocompletion with various broadcast and digital productions for PBS NC 24/7 kid'schannel and streaming. While the position works collaboratively with co-workersand community partners, team members will also work independently to seeproductions are complete, accurate and meet organization mission goals. TheEducational Engagement Producer may assist ongoing series producers with onlinedistribution management, show and feature editing and delivery. This workranges from involvement with concept, content, to oversight of allpre-production, production and post- production activities for PBS NC'sChildren's Media & Education Engagement Team.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

About the Team
PBSNorth Carolina's Education & Innovation Division couples public media'spower to serve the entire continuum of life-long learning with engaging,multi-platform content to provide wholesome and compelling educationalexperiences that bridge economic and digital divides across North Carolina; todevelop new audience, revenue and partnership opportunities for PBS NC; and todeliver tangible outcomes that bolster PBS NC's local and national reputationas a visionary and sustainable public media leader.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills
Abachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, production,filmmaking, or related fields required; three to five years of experience as arespected content creator across traditional analog and digital platforms; oran equivalent combination of training and experience. The person in thisposition must have a passion for identifying and/or creating diverse contentfor diverse audiences and must have a strong understanding of new storytellingtrends as well as media's fast evolving landscape. All degrees must be receivedfrom appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Competencies
Full knowledgeof the use and operation of a complete range of broadcast media equipment usedto produce television, radio and emerging media programming. Full knowledge ofapplicable FCC rules and regulations. Knowledge of current industry practicesand standards. Knowledge of a broad spectrum of current and emerging mediatechnologies used in production and post-production and the application oftechnology to produce creative content that fulfills programmatic goals.Ability to serve as a technical resource. -Ability to conceptualize, design,develop and deliver original complex media programs that reflect acomprehensive creative vision. Ability to set the creative tone for a projector program and manage the creative process across multiple teams. Ability toindependently originate and design artistic approaches to produce the mostsophisticated television, radio and emerging media programs, supported bycomprehensive technical knowledge of state-of-the-art equipment. -Ability toeffectively lead and manage internal staff or team members by originating,selecting and conveying comprehensive administrative, technical, artistic andaesthetic concepts verbally and in writing to achieve the desired outcome.Ability to build and maintain management awareness and support. -Ability towork independently, as a manager, or a team member and apply judgment indeveloping, organizing and executing plans and highly complex projects. Abilityto effectively lead and manage others in a dynamic environment. Ability to independentlydevelop contingency plans for resources and materials in anticipation ofchange. -Ability to effectively lead and manage work activities by sharingexpertise, providing guidance, knowledge and information to team members andsenior management in order to achieve project and organizational goals. Abilityto participate in organization-wide strategic planning and developmentactivities as assigned. -Ability to develop organizational standards and bestpractices for professional relationships with existing and new internal andexternal customers. Ability to monitor and ensure adherence to establishedorganization standards. Ability to identify and resolve organization-widecustomer service issues. Ability to model and promote positive customer servicerelationships with internal and external customers.
