The person in this position will oversee the Teaching & Learning Team support staff to ensure the effective, accurate and timely delivery of online courses to VirtualSC students with a focus on student success. Supervise, observe, and evaluate instructional support staff; consult with Teacher Supervisors on the performance of VirtualSC full-time and adjunct teachers to ensure that teachers exhibit and maintain a high level of professionalism, instructional support, and customer service; conduct annual evaluations of assigned direct reports using the Employee Performance Management system, as well as ongoing formative assessments. Assist the Teaching & Learning Team in meeting program goals and vision by developing training, professional development, and support programs for teachers and instructional support staff based on program data. Recommend opportunities for external professional growth and development activities; provide supervision to and consult with the instructional support staff in the planning, development, and delivery of professional learning opportunities for teachers with a focus on best practices in online teaching. Utilize internal and external data for program planning and improvement in instruction and student achievement; keep abreast of latest developments and research in online instruction and utilize that information in further developing instructional faculty and staff; implement policy, procedure and rule revisions based on research and data collected. Handle any student problems escalated by parents, teachers, and sponsoring schools. Aid students and parents when issues arise that require intervention or are referred to by Student and School Support Services Team, teachers, or other program staff. Provide assistance, guidance, and encouragement to families in need of additional instructional support to achieve a high level of student participation and success. Oversee the delivery of special education services within the purview of the program to ensure compliance and supportive learning environments for all students. Serve as a member of the VirtualSC Leadership Team to assist with development of best practices for instruction at VirtualSC. Review program policies and suggest new policies or improvement of current policies based on the instructional lens of the team. Review program schedules and calendars and suggest improvements, as needed. Participate with the School Advisory Board and Student Advisory Board to collect information and data to support program initiatives, policies, and procedures. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director.

A bachelor's degree and experience in education, management or business.
