About the Role:
The Nursery Assistant position plays an especially important and vital role here at Taylor’s. Customers are our highest priority and we do everything we can to help them win and to have the best landscape possible. We supply our customers with plant knowledge, great landscape references, and an investing experience that lasts a lifetime.
Key Responsibilities:
**Includes but is not limited to the following**
- Following daily processes and checklists
- Assisting customers with landscaping needs and answering question to the best of your ability
- Helping customers load their vehicles
- Keep the nursery tidy and clean
- Prices need to be facing toward the walkways so customers can easily see how much our plants cost.
- Plants need to be spaced on the tables / ground
- Weeding plants in their pot as well as walkways and under tables.
- Watering needs to be monitored daily, especially in the spring and summer months.
- Unloading and stickering plants from semi-trucks
- Pulling plant orders for the office personnel, customers, landscapers, etc.
- Maintain an organized potting shed / fertilizer shed that can be accessed and used at any time
- Maintain blooming shrubs / annuals / perennials to ensure they are presentable for our customers
Qualifications:
- Awareness that nursery assistants work in the rain, heat, and cold
- Awareness that nursery assistants have to be able to pull a hand cart while loaded with plants
- Awareness that nursery assistants have to be able to lift 50 pounds repetitively
- Awareness that nursery assistants have to be able to work 40 hours a week when full time
- Awareness that nursery assistants have be able to bend over, squat, and lift light weight items over their head

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- In an hour 8-hour work day: standing/walking.
- 40 - 60 hour work weeks during the months of March, April, May, and June.
- Exposure to temperatures: 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit, >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Ability to work in a wet and cold environment
- Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutter and heavy machinery.
