The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Department of Education is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor/instructor beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year. The position is tenure-stream. Responsibilities will include teaching 12 credits (usually four courses) each semester in person on campus. Courses may include educational assessment, English language arts/reading methods, math methods, science methods, and general education courses. Duties for these courses will include designing the courses according to the Pennsylvania Department of Education teacher education competencies, assessing students appropriately, and modeling best practices for the student. The successful candidate may also be asked to supervise student teachers.
Additional university expectations of the position include advising and mentoring students, service to campus and university, and continuing scholarly and professional development.
Successful applicants will provide evidence of successful teaching experience and a professional development plan. Background in elementary education and/or special education preferred. Additionally, the University of Pittsburgh values candidates with an interest in matters of diversity.
The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. or an Ed.D. Experience teaching in PK-12 classrooms and in higher education is preferred.
