OVERVIEW

As an Editorial Fact Checker on the Content Operations team you are a critical part of this process, ensuring that the information we share with consumers is 100% accurate.
In this position, you will report to the Manager, Content Research and work closely with our writers and editors to check facts for non-test related information across all our media channels.
Under our CRFLex Program, this is a hybrid position that will require you to be in the Yonkers' office approximately 3-5 times per month. We are considering candidates from the tri-state area only.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT
How You'll Make an Impact:
You will be part of the award-winning team that has been first to test and report on many critical and life-saving issues such as furniture tip-overs, PSFAs in food wrappers and infant sleepers that cause harm to children.
In this role, you'll check all facts reported in our content, including reviewing sources for completeness and accuracy. This may entail conducting primary research in order to validate facts. You will work closely with writers and editors to ensure content is correct, fair, and balanced, suggesting clarifying phrases as needed. There may be the opportunity to write short content or sidebar assignments, as well.
ABOUT YOU
You'll Be Highly Rated If:
  • You have the experience. You should have 1-2 years experience doing research for print or web publications.
  • You've earned the degree. We're looking for college graduates who have concentrations or credits earned in Science, Journalism, English or Economics..
  • You can translate tech-talk. You have translated statistical and technical data into language everyone can understand.
  • You are deadline-driven. You work well under pressure and meeting rigid deadlines. But also understand the need for flexibility should deadlines and priorities shift.
  • Communication is key. It's essential you have the proven reporting (interviewing and writing), communication and interpersonal skills needed to work collaboratively in a matrixed environment.
  • Details matter to you. You have done work that required you to be strongly detail oriented, thorough and resourceful.
  • You have a proven track record. Your research work has been published.

  • You have specialized. You have earned graduate school credits, in Science, English, Economics or Journalism.

FAIR PAY & A JUST WORKPLACE
At Consumer Reports, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is $70K to $80K. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience.
