POSITION SUMMARY:

Guitar Center is looking for an EDI Specialist to join the Information Technology team. As an EDI Specialist, you will initiate new EDI/B2B partnerships with trading partners; perform the necessary testing and certification requirements and assist the vendor in going live with EDI/B2B. This position will act as a liaison between trading partners, third party technical providers and internal departments in managing and resolving day to day EDI/B2B issues. Good communication skills are a necessary attribute for this position. Strong technical aptitude is a must. This position will monitor data flow to ensure there are no errors, and take the necessary actions when errors occur. This position will also be responsible for producing reports as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement EDI/B2B mapping and assist with new vendor setup.
  • Work with internal and external user community to ensure EDI documents are transmitted on time and processed successfully.
  • Work closely with the EDI team to research and resolve errors.
  • Reporting to management on the cause and resolution to EDI issues. 
  • Testing of modifications to current EDI systems.
  • Work with technical resources at third party software provider to resolve issues and to understand the causes behind the issues.
  • Analyze current EDI system, and propose improvements.
  • Working with Internal Network group, to ensure that Windows Servers remain up to date with all relevant patches and updates
  • Monitor Application and System logs on Windows Servers.
  • Making sure documents continue to successfully flow between our host system, Windows Servers, and our trading partners.
  • Create and maintain documentation pertaining to Guitar Center EDI program.
  • Train vendors and internal users on how to use the EDI/B2B application.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  •  At least 3 years of related EDI/B2B experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of EDI/B2B documents (ex. XML, ANSI X12 and Flat Files). Must be familiar with EDI/B2B standards and mapping tools.
  • Familiarity with FTP/s, AS2 and other transmission protocols.
  • Must be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal.  Able to understand the overall technical aspects of the B2B application, as well as be able to communicate the process to many different end users. Needs to work well with a variety of people and personalities.
  • Must have good documentation skills along with previous experience in creating and maintaining reports.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Must be able to multi-task; and be comfortable in an environment where priorities are constantly shifting.
  • Must be a fast learner with strong work ethic.
  • Effectively prioritize and work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to utilize computer reference material to conduct independent research and solve problems.
  • Working knowledge of the Internet, PC and printer setup.
  • Creative problem solver and can do attitude.
  • Familiarity with Unix and Windows environment
  • Basic MS SQL Server knowledge and skills (does not need to be a DBA but should know how to use the SQL admin tools and query tools).

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with Vendornet or other EDI/B2B solutions.
  • Experience working with HTML, XML and flat file formats.
  • Experience with GXS/OpenText BizManager (mapping and system administration).
  • Experience with Bamboo Rose (formerly TradeStone)

Pay Rate: $55,200 - $73,600 /yr depending on background and experience.
