What You’ll Do:

• Adheres to and carries out the policies, procedures, standards, and objectives of Echocardiography Laboratory.
• Professionally performs m-modes, 2-D echocardiograms, colour flow doppler, pulse wave doppler, continuous wave doppler, pedoff doppler, transesophageal echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms and any other procedures performed in the department.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping.
• Frequent lifting/moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving or carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity.
• Constant reaching with hands/arms.
• Frequent talking or hearing.
• Corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
• Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue.
• Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
• Moderate noise level in work area.
• Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours.
• May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department. Must be able to work alone, be on-call after normal working hours, weekends, and holidays (24-hour call).
• Performs departmental diagnostic procedures accurately and timely.
• Accurate and timely measurements and prepares studies for physician interpretation.
• Performs other job duties and responsibilities as required. A8:G8

What You Bring:

• Education: Minimum, High School Graduate. Prefer Associates or Bachelors.
• Experience: One year experience in the Cardiovascular field, preferably in Echocardiography preferred
• Licensure/Certification:
• Must have good communication skills and technical knowledge.
• Oversees technical performance of those not registered. Teaches others cardiac anatomy, physiology, and cardiac ultrasound techniques.
• Must keep abreast of new advances.
• Must retain active registry status through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or through the Cardiovascular Credentialing International as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
• Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.
• Primary Source Verification: ARDMS – http://www.ardms.org and/or CCI – http://cci-online.org
• Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of cardiac ultrasound theories, practices, and procedures to provide quality care and exams for patients.
• Must show demonstrated ability to perform and preliminarily interpret all cardiac ultrasound modalities performed in the department.
• Must demonstrate accuracy in recording technical information, history and test results.
• Skilled in maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and co-workers.
• The ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Skilled in preparing and maintaining records accurately.
• Ability to verbally communicate well. Ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
• May be responsible for performing the following additional procedures: Electrocardiograms (EKGs/ECGs), Cardiac Stress Tests, Holter Monitors, Holter Scanning and Event Monitors.
• May be responsible for performing other modalities as well.
• Some of these modalities include but are not limited to vascular ultrasound and abdominal ultrasound.
• Days, 8am-4:30pm.
• On Call Requirement for all 4 hospitals, Once a week = Weekday, Once a month = Weekend.
