Position Objective
Clover Park Technical College (CPTC) is looking for a childcare professional to come work with some of the coolest three to four-year-olds around! As the ECEAP Lead Teacher for the Hayes Child Development Center (HCDC), you will be able to help these wonderful kiddos prepare for Kindergarten and their future success by providing a safe learning environment that helps them meet individualized developmental goals and keeping them engaged. In your new role, you will join a great team that supports CPTC student families and community families in gaining access to education and services. You will be the cornerstone for a safe learning environment for children to develop school-readiness skills while building positive and supportive relationships with the families enrolled in the ECEAP program. Your Team: In your new role as ECEAP Lead Teacher, you will work closely with toddlers and their families, assistant teachers, and other staff at the Hayes Child Care Center. The Hayes Child Care Center is an enthusiastic team that enjoys working with children and the daily adventures that they bring. Many of our staff have worked together for years!

This position's duties are performed in person on our Lakewood campus. The ECEAP Lead Teacher position is an overtime-eligible, full-time position.
This position has been designated as a bargaining unit position represented by Clover Park Federation of Classified Employees Local 4789.
Duties and Tasks (Essential Functions)
Duty: Oversee the safety and supervision of children in a preschool classroom
Tasks include:
  • Ensure Washington State licensing (WAC) regulations, Early Achievers, ECEAP and NAEYC standards are implemented and followed.
  • Ensure the health and wellness of children through adherence to center policies and ECEAP standards
  • Communicate issues regarding safety, active supervision, and other regulatory concerns with center director and manager.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with assistant teacher regarding safety, supervision and classroom management expectations.
  • Maintain daily sanitation and cleanliness according to required regulations.

Duty: Implement daily activities and routines for indoor, outdoor, and remote early learning environments
Tasks include:
  • Design and maintain a classroom environment and daily routine that meets the individual needs of children based on standards set forth by Early Achievers, ECEAP, NAEYC, and DCYF.
  • Conduct and document daily observations around Individual Learning Plan (ILP) goals, Individual Educations Plans (IEP), developmental needs/assessment results to promote a developmentally appropriate, supportive and safe environment.
  • Plan and implement a weekly curriculum inclusive of lessons and activities surrounding health, safety, nutrition, ILP & IEP goals, and other outlined dimensions per ECEAP standards
  • Execute ECEAP approved classroom management strategies to maintain activities and routines while maintaining in the adult to child ratio expectations of 1:10 set by DCYF
  • Provide family-style meal settings (when appropriate) for mealtimes at the center according to USDA regulations, Early Achievers, ECEAP and NAEYC standards
  • Create and provide activities to send to families opting for remote early learning services
  • Use remote platforms inclusive of CANVAS, Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG), and Ready Rosie to connect with families regarding early learning activities and child observations

Duty: Maintain ongoing communication with families of a diverse background being empathetic to the life experiences of ECEAP families
Tasks include:
  • Communicate and collaborate with families on partnership goals, assessment results, referrals, and ongoing cross-component activities
  • Initiate and conduct the process, planning and implementation of transitioning children between classrooms and exiting the program including families and appropriate staff
  • Conduct quarterly conferences in the environment most supportive to the family, including home-visits, at the center, or using a remote platform of Zoom or Microsoft Teams
  • Communication with families will be made using the college provided phone system and email address as well as the REMIND application to support text messaging to ensure personal contact information remains confidential

Duty: Provide support for Early Care and Education students, work study students, and volunteers
Tasks include:
  • Role model appropriate language and interactions between children and adults
  • Coach and mentor students in accordance with center policy and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with ECE Coordinators regarding student learning objectives, behaviors, and on-going progress

Duty: Clerical support and professional development
Tasks include:
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and program-wide goals according to Early Achievers, ECEAP, DCYF, and NAEYC in various delivery methods including in person and remotely
  • Encourage family engagement and involvement with center activities supporting their child's learning experience and parental education opportunities
  • Maintain records and documentation according to Early Achievers, ECEAP, DCYF, NAEYC, and center standards on an ongoing basis
  • Respond to emails and phone calls in a timely manner

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Early Care and Education OR an Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Experience working at a licensed childcare center with children ages 2.5 - 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Care and Education OR a related field
  • Knowledge of NAEYC Standards
  • Knowledge and experience with ECEAP performance standards
