Base Salary + Enrichment Contract: $60,629-$115,182
Supplemental 3 Days Contract-Elementary School Counselor: $957.80 - $1,819.61
*Posted salary is for the 23-24 school year; the salary for the 24-25 school year will be modified following negotiations.
DESCRIPTION:
To assist in the educational progress of students by providing counseling and/or consultation to school staff, parents, and to students.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Essential Functions:
- To provide group and/or individual counseling activities for students exhibiting similar concerns, needs or behaviors
- To consult with individuals (parents, staff, students) to design specific approaches/programs to meet the educational, psychological and social needs of students.
- To provide classroom guidance activities upon teacher request.
- To participate in parent-teacher conferences when requested.
- To facilitate parenting classes in order to enhance understanding about adult-child relationships and responsibilities.
- To assist students in transition between grade levels and/or special programs.
- To coordinate the MTSS process utilizing appropriate school district services and community agencies.
- Serves as a resource for building staff, administrators, and parents in working with students, creating a positive school climate, and helping students develop a positive self-concept. Consults with district administration and building staff with respect to development of the curriculum to meet the identified needs of the students. Participates or leads development of positive behavior support systems and development of intervention strategies
- Provides crisis response and management for students who are experiencing significant behavioral and emotional challenges.
- Keeps appropriate records and inform administration and staff of student or family contacts
- Works as a member of the district's Mental Health Team and with members of school teams to assess student needs, determine appropriate interventions, set up appropriate progress monitoring plans, analyze student data and complete Functional Behavioral Assessments with Behavior Intervention Plans in order to provide appropriate behavioral supports for students.
- Meet with District administration to produce district level support and products for successful MTSS/PBIS implementation within the schools.
- Serve as member of the MTSS team to identify at-risk students and implement interventions to enhance success and connect teams to necessary resources for successful implementation of MTSS both academically and behaviorally.
- Assist team in developing, implementing and evaluating Action Plans using a variety of data sources. Use and analyze data to help students succeed academically and/or behaviorally.
- Serve as a resource and support to school teams in planning supports for students with academic and behavior challenges.
- Guide students in understanding self and others, assist in development of effective social skills
- Required to follow Board policies and stay abreast of updates and changes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: - Minimum Qualifications:
*Valid Counselor or School Social Worker Certificate
*Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate Certificate.
*Successfully complete Washington State Patrol background check. Employee is
responsible for cost of background check.
*A strong commitment to the teaching profession.
*Demonstrated ability to work effectively, courteously, and cooperatively with people in a multi-person environment.
*Demonstrated ability to utilize various teaching strategies to enhance the curriculum within the building.
