The Hourly Rate for this temporary position is $20.00 per hour.
This position is a Temporary position that is not benefits-eligible.
Position Summary
It is the responsibility of the Early Childhood Assistant Teacher/Substitute teacher to ensure an preschool program of the highest quality for both children and their parents. This will be demonstrated by following the standards set forth by MSU Denver Early Family Literacy program.

Duties/Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties That Must Be Safely Performed with or Without Reasonable Accommodation:
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of an assigned EFL program site.
  • Provide the necessary support to the lead teacher, families and students.
  • Ensure that assigned work areas remain clean, safe and well organized.
  • Assist in the development/implementation of a quality Early Family Literacy program.
  • Maintain open communication with management and parents, participate in PACT.
  • Support the staff in family communication, interaction, and relationship building with each student.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of lesson plans.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality of all information obtained on the children in the EFL program and all personnel information.
  • Participate in early childhood educational training and workshops to meet the state requirement of 15 hours per year.
  • Follow all policies in the parent handbook.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • The position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • The position requires frequent contact with staff members, families, facility staff, and the general public- an essential part of our program.
  • Must be required and able to provide positive communication and abide by our program's ECE philosophy when interacting with students and parents.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds safely- with or without accommodation.
  • Employee must represent MSU Denver in a professional manner, projecting a positive and encouraging attitude.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Must be able to provide verbal/visual presentations/lessons to students.
  • Ability to work independently and together in a teaching team.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Experience working with children ages 1-5 years old.
  • Proven ability to relate effectively with coworkers, employees, parents, and children of varying ages.
  • Must be able to lift and move tables, chairs, and large equipment (toys) up to 50 pounds.
