EC/ES French Teacher 2024
Washington Episcopal School in Bethesda, Maryland, is accepting applications for an anticipated opening for an Early Childhood and Elementary French teacher for PK4 through Grade 5 for the 2024-2025 school year.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree (master’s preferred) in Education and/or French
- Native French speaker is preferred
- Minimum of two years of related teaching experience, preferably at the early childhood or elementary levels
- A high level of energy and initiative
- Strong collaborative skills
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver rigorous, age-appropriate units of study in French.
- Foster student understanding and appreciation of the culture in French-speaking countries.
- Demonstrate creativity and flexibility in lesson planning and classroom instruction to meet the needs of the different ages.
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles through differentiation.
- Assess and track student progress and communicate as needed with colleagues, families, and students.
- Clearly communicate expectations and classroom rules to students, reinforcing the school’s culture of high academic and behavioral expectations.
- Attend and actively participate in school-planned professional development, faculty meetings, and division-wide activities as appropriate.
- Seek out opportunities for professional development to enhance personal and program goals.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with other members of the world language team to foster a culture of collegiality and commitment.
- Maintain thoughtful, respectful, and positive relations with the school community as a whole.
