JOB SUMMARY

The Early Childhood/Program Manager is responsible for the overall management and oversight of the program to ensure compliance with program and funding requirements. The Program Manager drives, manages, monitors, and reports the timely delivery of program results.

Program Overview - Connecticut Early Years:

Connecticut Early Years is a program designed to enhance community childcare services in the greater Hartford area by leveraging the knowledge and infrastructure of the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program. The initiative aims to provide comprehensive support to working families with children in childcare settings. Key components of the program include:

  • An Early Childhood Manager who will oversee and support the Family Consultants
    • The Family Consultants are individual who work directly with families
  • The Early Childhood Manager and the Family Consultants will engage in all required data collection activities, including information on the service they are providing (e.g., forms to document encounters with families and teachers) as well as completion of the Family Map and the PICCOLO, and ratings of their relationships with families.
  • Goal identification.
  • Regular meetings with families and teachers.
  • Providing access to community services.
  • Parenting support.
  • Facilitating peer support.

Connecticut Early Years aims to provide tailored support to families through community-based services, individualized consultation, and professional collaboration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for staff oversight, including but not limited to hiring, training, staff supervision, monitoring staff performance and ensuring performance management.
  • Monitors and ensures the delivery of all required services to each member in the program, including appropriate documentation in the data system.
  • Serves as an expert for the program and provides consultation internal and externally on behalf of The Village.
  • Works closely with collateral agencies to ensure appropriate planning and continuity of services for members.
  • Serves as operational administrator of the program, which may include functions such as business leadership, facilities/grounds management, etc.
  • Attends and/or facilitates all relevant trainings and planning meetings for the program.
  • Ensures that culturally competent services are provided to all members and families.
  • Facilitates regular program meetings and provide supervision to all staff within program.
  • Ensures that the census is maintained.
  • Evaluates and assess the programs’ strengths and weaknesses.
  • Works as part of a multi-disciplinary team both within the agency at large, including collaborating across departments regarding clients and service delivery.

Experience and Skills:
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • Must have 4+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to schedule and manage tasks effectively.
  • Conflict resolution, risk management and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, proven teamwork and motivational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage stress and respond to emergency situations safely and calmly, excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of client needs (behavioral, social, emotional).
  • Must be culturally competent to serve our population.
  • Must possess solid general computer skills, including ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
