Position Summary:
UW-Platteville seeks a full-time, temporary Early Childhood Education Administrative Assistant. The Administrative Assistant contributes to the implementation, administration, coordination, and evaluation for the online Child Care and Education Credentials programs to ensure effectiveness in meeting departmental and student development goals and initiatives. Strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment and student experience. Identifies program needs, contributes to the development of unit workflows, implements customized communications and marketing campaigns. Works in collaboration with the program manager to provide student services and coordinate program components.

Wage for this temporary position is $16 - $18 per hour, commensurate with related experience and is not benefit eligible.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the initial point of contact for the ECED Credentials program via phone, in person, and through other communication mediums.
  • Implements marketing campaigns for the ECED Credentials program.
  • Collects, analyzes, and prepares various communication materials from established sources utilizing technology mediums.
  • Sends, receives, copies, and distributes customized communications to ECED students (in English and/or Spanish) according to established policies and procedures under general supervision.
  • Communicates with students and prospective students on a variety of processes including application, registration, financial status, scholarship status, etc.
  • Applies knowledge of programs, procedures, and policies to provide administrative support and assistance, escalating more complex decisions to program manager.
  • Processes student scholarships.
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings, conferences, travel, and work unit operations.
  • Maintains established methods and organizational systems directed at the maintenance of electronic/physical records related to work operations according to established policies and procedures. 

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • High School diploma/GED with one year experience in an administrative support role.
  • Customer service oriented; strives to create positive experiences and connection as students/customers interface with all facets of the ECED program.
  • Ability to create outreach messages in multiple platforms.
  • Excellent organizational skills and analytical abilities.
  • Initiative to solve problems with foresight.
  • Ability to use multiple computer platforms and tools to support engagement and accessibility for a wide variety of audiences.
  • Strong communication skills with both internal and external partners.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and multiple sources and types of information.

Preferred Skills

  • Bilingual- English and Spanish preferred
