A Social Service agency in Union County is seeking Full Time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join our team to make a difference in someone's life. The DSP supports individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in a residential setting.

The role of a DSP is to assist in the daily care of people with disabilities and provide on-site supervision and support 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Your vital job functions are essential to members’ health, safety, and welfare.

Full-Time hours are 3:00 PM -11:00 PM and include weekends. Days will vary depending on the program.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a genuine desire to work with individuals with developmental disabilities.

Two weeks of paid orientation (M-F 9am-5pm) is required prior to the start of your assignment. In addition, ongoing paid training outside of normal work hours is required.

Full Time positions include an awesome benefits package! Positions are located in Union County.

We provide you with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). EOE

Responsibilities

  • Assists individuals' needs and develops an effective counseling/support relationship
  • Provides hands on assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing and hygiene, and helps with fire drills and/or other health and safety issues as needed
  • Provides assistance for daily living skills, supportive counseling, and direct care assistance
  • Follows treatment plan, ensures the member's health and safety, and promotes independence and person centered planning
  • Helps with food shopping, menu planning, and meal preparation
  • Communicates ongoing care results and updates to relevant parties
  • Collaborates with families and superiors for best care opportunities
  • Helps to arrange and attend social activities
  • Transports members to medical appointments, recreation activities, etc.
  • Helps ensure a safe, clean, organized, environment
  • Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
  • Helps resolve member and family concerns
  • Attends required trainings, staff meetings, and other meetings/events as requested
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities a plus
  • Valid driver's license
  • Car to use for work purposes
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Basic computer skills required, including agency software programs and Electronic Health Record
  • Willing and able to attend required trainings outside of normal work hours
