DSHS Rainier School Dietitian-Nutritionist
Rainier School is seeking a Registered Dietitian to join our team of professionals who provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
At Rainier School, our direct care and support staff provide 24-hour nursing care, a full spectrum of clinical and therapeutic programs, and recreation/activities to empower our clients. You'll personally empower our clients through professional-level nutritional assessment, education; formulating menus, special preparation needs, and portion size as well as medical nutritional therapy and/or direct others in professional administrative dietetic services. This is an ideal job for someone who is seeking to work directly with clients as well as nutritionally in a kitchen with a flexible schedule, Mon-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, and weekends off. Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
Some of what you will do:
- Perform an annual nutrition assessment, education, and nutritional therapy for each resident
- Develop, implement, and document nutritional care plans and nutritional menus for all residents
- Conduct weekly quality assurance processes by conducting tray evaluations and auditing resident records for dietary compliance with nutritional needs
- Consult with the interdisciplinary team to participate in quality assurance
- Monitor dietary programs and the progress of residents' medical records
- Evaluate, work with vendors and agency staff and recommend dietary supplements, ensure supplements and feeding formula is available
- Interpret research findings and incorporate them into nutritional therapy programs to treat residents
- Write the general menu and medications for special diets.
- Develop, evaluate and utilize food service computer systems.
Who should apply:
- Individuals with a Bachelor's degree involving a major study in food and nutrition or dietetics and registration as a Dietician by the American Dietetic Association or eligible for registration at the time of hire.
- Dietician experience is preferred
- Strength in communication and collaboration will be critical to your success in helping us transform lives.
