Dry Kiln Supervisor

Responsibilities:

· Provide direct supervision and leadership to crew members involved in the kiln drying process.

· Coordinate the loading of lumber stacks into the kiln. Proper stacking and arrangement are crucial for efficient drying.

· Monitor and adjust kiln temperature, humidity, and airflow settings. Ensure consistent and controlled drying conditions.

· Track the progress of each kiln cycle. Adjust parameters as needed to achieve optimal drying without compromising lumber quality.

· Enforce safety protocols during kiln operation, including proper handling of hot lumber and adherence to safety guidelines.

· Inspect lumber once dry for quality. Look for signs of over-drying, warping, or other issues.

· Organize and stack dried lumber in designated storage areas.

· Troubleshoot issues related to drying efficiency, quality, or equipment. Implement corrective actions as needed.

· Coordinate with maintenance and production personnel at all levels to continually strive for operation excellence.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Experience as a kiln operator, kiln supervision preferred.

· OSU Kiln Operators Course or equivalent training and experience preferred.

· Thorough knowledge of lumber manufacturing, including equipment and handling.

· Strong analytical abilities and working knowledge of lumber handling and kiln processes.

· Detail-oriented and results-focused.

· Must be able to successfully pass a drug test.

· Must be able to continuously stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders safely. The weight required to be lifted each normal workday may occasionally exceed fifty (50) pounds at a time.

· Must be 18+ years old to work in an industrial sawmill environment.
