Driver Supervisor/Dispatcher

HSM has an opening for a Driver Supervisor/Dispatcher at HSM Trucking in Conover, NC. The individual in this position will be responsible for day to day supervision of truck drivers and ensuring that all shipments are managed per the agreed upon service. This position significantly impacts HSM's competitiveness in the areas of sales, quality, delivery, cost and growth while ensuring safe and environmentally friendly work settings.

• Supervises the daily and weekly activity of a group of truck drivers
• Monitors the shipping activity from HSM locations and suppliers and assures that all shipments are managed per the agreed upon service
• Develops and communicates a daily and weekly driver schedule that optimizes service, driver and equipment utilization
• Communicates as needed to HSM locations, customers or suppliers to maintain strong working relationships and to manage information
• Able to exercise a sense of urgency to keep pace with the requirements of customers and HSM locations
• Maintain records in spreadsheets or systems documenting daily assignments and activities
• Operates under strict compliance to all company, FMCSA, State and Local laws, regulations and guidelines
• Supports other Driver Supervisors as needed
• Must have the ability to monitor activity remotely or off hours as needed using company supplied technology
• Individual must have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
• Individual must be a team player and willing to work in a matrix organization

• Completion of high school education (requirements demonstrated by high school transcript, diploma or GED)
• 3-5 years of prior supervisory experience in a logistics function
• Proficient in MS Office application
• Requires integrity, independent action, originality, evaluation and judgment
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively present information one-one one, or in small group situations to other employees of the organization
• Must possess all other qualities critical for managerial success including leadership, self-confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility, sound business judgment and determination
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding sensitive information and/or records
• Preferences (candidates with these additional skills/experiences are preferred in the role):
  • 2 or 4 year college degree in business or related field
  • Experience with ERP system
  • Other duties as assigned by management
