The mission of the Food Bank is to mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community. To fulfill our mission, we source and acquire nutritious food and other products and distribute them to people experiencing nutrition insecurity through our partner agency network and directly through programs; energize the community to get involved and support hunger relief; and conduct hunger and nutrition education and awareness campaigns and advocate for public policies that benefit the people we serve. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Warehouse Operations: Must maintain regular and predictable on-site attendance. Maintains quality and ensures accuracy of work. Operates trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts safely. Loads and unloads trucks using pallet jacks. Inspects, sorts, and consolidates products. Drives truck to pick-up and delivery sites, ensuring DOT compliance. Completes daily inspection forms for assigned trucks. Checks truck daily for serviceability. Informs supervisor of truck service requirements. Helps maintain equipment.Keeps the facility and equipment clean at all times.
Safety and Compliance: Complies with all safety requirements. Reports equipment issues promptly. Notifies supervisor of quality or accuracy concerns. Reports questionable pick-ups, late docking, transportation concerns, missing documents, and quality issues promptly. Advises supervisor of food safety or chemical safety concerns. Observes and follows safety rules. Follows rules and regulations in accordance with company policy.
Documentation and Reporting: Ensures all documents, bills of lading, receipts, tags are accurate. Notifies supervisor of quality or accuracy concerns. Reports questionable pick-ups, late docking, transportation concerns, missing documents, and quality issues promptly. Signs receipts for items picked up for the Food Bank. Logs into and updates routing system software Samsara.
Collaboration and Communication: Works effectively with other staff members at all levels of responsibility. Assures teamwork, collaboration, and integrity. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Compliance and Record-Keeping: Ensures DOT compliance in keeping truck/trip logs updated daily. Completes daily inspection forms for assigned trucks. Logs into and updates routing system software Samsara.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age or older.
- Valid California Class C driver license.
- At least three (3) years driving experience (not necessarily commercial driving).
- Insurable with a good driving history.
- Must be literate in English in order to read and understand shipping documents and communicate with external customers.
- Must be able to lift and carry 45 pounds up to a distance of 5’ – 8’.
- Must be able to operate forklifts.
- Must operate pallet jacks (electric and manual).
- Ability to understand bills of lading, receiving documents and any other documents relevant to shipping/receiving.
- May be required to stoop, squat, bend, or reach on a frequent basis depending on route or delivery program needs.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Warehouse and Field Environment.
- Exposure to natural elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, rain, or cold.
