A Driver will be responsible for driving commercial vehicles to deliver equipment, tools, materials and supplies to and from job sites.
- Support and adhere to safety standards and initiatives. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and identify areas of concern. Complete daily inspection reports. Ensure loads are properly secured and inspect chains/tie-down equipment.
- Load tools and equipment at Logistics or confirm tools/equipment have been loaded properly. Ensure proper weight distribution for weight compliance and redistribute weight as needed.
- Drive to drop-off or pick-up sites. Communicate with the jobsite contact in advance to confirm load, plan for arrival, and receive any special instructions. Review traffic conditions prior to drive to confirm best routes.
- Load and unload vehicles on the job site. Position vehicles and ensure weight distribution considered for unloading/loading of large loads.
- Keep vehicles in good working order. Ensure vehicles are properly fueled for upcoming deliveries and inspect vehicles for any concerns. Document issues identified and share issues with the mechanic. Complete Driver’s Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) accurately, file completed documents, and ensure duplicate forms are kept in the vehicle for Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association (FMCSA) verification. Complete appropriate basic vehicle maintenance and keep vehicle clean. Complete digital logbook entries for compliance tracking.
- Complete Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections, as needed. Comply with DOT checkpoints and provide requested documentation. Cooperate with DOT personnel during the inspection process.
- Adhere to rules and regulations of driving and hauling, including load, time, and road restrictions/parameters in areas driven. Stay current on city curfew and truck route rules. Confirm tie-downs/binders are on verified tiedown points and with approved limits. Adhere to permit rules for load/axle ratios.
- Assist warehouse personnel, as needed, including but not limited to: sweeping warehouse floors, painting office trailers, and completing general equipment yard cleanup.
- Build relationships and communicate effectively with jobsite leaders, other drivers, warehouse team, craft employees, and subcontractors.
- Follow directions and adhere to company procedures. Apply an understanding of construction terminology and industry to execute with excellence. Submit time entry daily. Comprehend and apply instructions and ask questions as needed.

Work Environment
This job operates in a construction work site and warehouse environment. This role routinely works outside in varying weather conditions. Work may require occasional weekend and evening work along with overnight stays for out-of-town deliveries.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full time. Work may necessitate a flexible schedule and/or extended hours when required by project schedule.
Travel
Ability to travel to varying project locations where GE Johnson conducts business for varying lengths of time. Ability to travel to multiple locations or job sites daily or weekly as needed.
Required Education and Experience
- Commercial Class-A driver’s license
- Experience operating and maintaining commercial vehicles
- Ability to pass a DOT physical
- Oversize vehicle drivers:
- Previous heavy equipment mechanical experience
- General knowledge of equipment from various brands (i.e. John Deere, CAT, Case, Hitachi)
Preferred Education and Experience
- High School Diploma
- Spanish Bilingual
- Commercial driver’s license Doubles and Triples endorsement
- Experience driving in winter weather conditions
- Experience hauling loads of various sizes
- Experience maintaining and operating tractor-trailer combinations
- Experience using electronic logbooks and completing DOT inspection forms
- Experience reading and following permit rules for load/axle ratios

Pay Range
$19.00 - $29.00 per hour
