Role Summary
The Mine Engineer – Drill and Blast is responsible for all engineering functions related to drilling and blasting of lateral development, long hole stopes, and slot raises with the primary goal of reducing overbreak and underbreak of all areas.
Main Responsibilities | Activities
• Lead the drill and blast planning and scheduling in accordance with the short-range mine plan
• Lead initiatives by identifying opportunities, products, or techniques for reducing drill and blast costs while improving the productivity of our loading fleet
• Prepare, verify, and approve drill and blast designs
• Create production reports related to drill and blast activities with recommendations for continual improvement
• Drive and report QA/QC of all drilling and blasting to ensure blasts follow design
• Liaise with contractors, vendors and other stakeholders on a technical level
• Other duties as assigned.
Education, Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering with heavy emphasis on Drill and Blast or other degree with substantial drill and blast experience
• 2+ years’ of mining experience, preferably in an underground environment
• Proficient experience in drill and blast software such as Deswik
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
• Drive for continuous personal and professional development is required
