Job Description
AZTEC Engineering is seeking resumes from qualified Drainage Project Engineers for our Phoenix, Arizona office. This position will be developing and completing Civil Design tasks for our Solar projects. This role will mentor our designers in developing and completing designs, and contract documents. Other Drainage Project Engineer responsibilities include:
- Review and interpretation and understanding of geotechnical reports and ALTA surveys
- Review, interpretation, and understanding of drainage design codes
- Review, interpretation, and understanding of project land use permit conditions and general permit process for solar projects
- Civil design of solar projects, Including grading/earthwork, drainage improvements, access roads, and internal roads
- Using commercially available and in‐house software tools, especially HEC‐RAS 2D, Flow‐2D, AutoCAD (Civil‐3D), GIS, and PVGRAd
- Review Civil Design packages prepared by others
- Closely interact with the rest of the design team for production and coordination
- Interact with clients and AHJs on the civil design and permitting aspects of solar projects
- Attend meetings with clients for Business Development tasks when needed
- Provide Civil design expertise and guidance to the team while directly training them
Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience Drainage design
- Professional engineering license (PE) in Arizona or other another state
- Experience with hydrology analysis software and corresponding project model setup
- Experience with HEC-HMS, HECRAS2D, QGIS, Phyton, AutoCAD (Civil3D), GIS, and PVGRAd.
- Experience with permitting solar projects
- Must have solid skills in the following areas: planning and scheduling; organization; problem-solving and decision making
- Self‐motivated, technically proficient, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, and is team-oriented
- Must have solid skills in the following areas: planning and scheduling; organization; problem-solving; and decision
- Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier
- Experience with BIM is a plus
- Experience with Phyton is a plus
