FLSA STATUS:   Full Time, Exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Draftsperson reports to the Kaiser Project Engineering Manager. The position provides AutoCAD drafting and document management services for the plant. The position primarily interfaces with multiple Kaiser Engineering Departments, Maintenance, 3rd party engineering contractors and equipment suppliers. 

 

 

The essential functions include:

• Drawing management system software, configuration and long-term sustainability
• Input of AutoCAD drawings and information into document management system
•  
• Interface with outside engineering and equipment vendors to facilitate efficient and accurate exchanges of information to/from document management system
• Drawing/document management system standards development and updates
• Maintenance of site drawing standards based on input from key stakeholders
• Perform redline updates to AutoCAD files as required
• Provide general arrangement and layout support for feasibility studies
• Provide drafting design support for Engineering and Maintenance
• Provide support for drawing and information searches
• Update written instructions and training for drawing system users
• Support continuous improvement efforts to improve front line maintenance personnel access to equipment and drawing information
• Work with the Information Technology team to manage system access, network, storage, software, and hardware elements necessary for high reliability system
• Comply with all safety, quality and environmental regulations 

Requirements

EDUCATION           

 

Associate degree in Engineering Drafting/Design

EXPERIENCE                   This individual will possess:

• Minimum 2-years AutoCAD, Inventor or equivalent experience
• Experience with administration of a document management system preferred
• Experience with information management and document/design standards
• Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Ability to interface with Contractors and all levels of the Kaiser organization
• Strong PC skills, including Windows, Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office products
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills
• Proven ability to work in teams
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Approximately 85% of the job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions.15% of the job function is required in the plant. There is exposure to operating machinery in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
