The Drafting Team Leader is a critical technical resource to the Engineering and Drafting Department. The Drafting Team Leader shall be the single point of control for a group of Checkers and Drafters within the drafting department. The Drafting Team Leader shall also take responsibility to (a) teach technical training for and (b) answer periodic technical inquiries from the Drafters and Checkers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities include:
- Create and maintain project schedules for the jobs assigned to his/her team. He/she is directly responsible for the timeliness of the projects assigned to the team.
- Monitor quality of drafting for the jobs assigned to his/her team.
- Training: Drafting Team Leader will perform in a training capacity for the drafting department. On a day-to-day basis, he/she is a resource for the drafters and checkers on his/her team when they have a problem they do not know how to solve on their own.
- Other Assistance: Assist Vice President of Engineering and Drafting in ad hoc requirements as necessary to advance the overall objectives of the company and Drafting Department.
Key Measures of success include:
- Consistent completion of responsibilities
- High repeat order rate / High net promoter score
- Timeliness and quality of jobs completed by his/her team
- Proactive requesting and follow up on questions from Drafters or Checkers (24 hours send out; 48 hours check back)
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree
- Experience may be accepted in lieu of education or formal certifications.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of (5) years of experience as a Drafter and/or Checker
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of heavy structural and light gauge steel building designs, means, and methods.
- Excellent command drawing review tools and technics.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Ability to investigate problems or potential problems to avoid reoccurrence.
- Proficient in Revit, BlueBeam, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to communicate at numerous levels internal and external to the company.
- Excellence in oral and written communication in English.

- Able to talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Able to stand, walk, sit, and type 8 – 10 hours per day.
