Job description

The Donor Stewardship Manager supports the affiliate’s fundraising and development efforts through the management of a donor portfolio (including individuals, faith groups, civic, and corporate donors), managing the affiliate’s donor information system and stewardship program, and prospecting potential community partnerships.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least five years of experience in fundraising and development, or equivalent experience.
  • Effective communication (oral and written) and listening skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to work both independently and with other staff and volunteers.

  • Proficient in donor management databases and the Microsoft Office package.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills including a sincere, friendly manner and ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and self-manage with minimal supervision.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
Reports to: Development Director
Time Requirements: Full time, some evenings and weekends. Local, out of the office, travel required.
Permits and Licenses: Valid Driver’s License
Annual Pay: $58,000 - $62,000 (or commensurate with experience)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meet fundraising goals through portfolio management, Donor Stewardship, and public engagement:
Portfolio Management
  • Manage a portfolio of individual, faith group, civic, and corporate donors/sponsors.
    • Identify prospective donors, sponsors and partners for the affiliate’s programs and events.
    • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, culminating in the solicitation of donations and gifts.
    • Meet regular prospecting and solicitation goals, as defined by the affiliate’s development plan.
    • Coordinate with Finance & Administration staff on gift processing.
    • Assist Development Director in the creation and implementation of department goals, budget, and annual strategic development plan.
    • Develop strategies to increase donor/sponsor retention.
    • Collaborate with ReStore Development Coordinator.
Stewardship
  • Fully-utilize customer relationship management system (currently Salesforce) to document donor engagement activity, to ensure that donor and sponsor information is current and accurate, and to produce reports as needed.
  • Participate in affiliate’s donor acknowledgment and appreciation processes.
  • Work to ensure excellent donor experience.
  • Train staff on affiliate’s donor relations expectations and assist in developing an affiliate-wide culture of gratitude.
  • Serve as a liaison between faith group, civic, and corporate donors/sponsors and affiliate staff.
  • Support outreach and communications to donors in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Manager.
Community Partnerships
  • Represent affiliate at community networking events.
    • Facilitate connections between prospective partners and appropriate affiliate staff (e.g. ReStore donors, volunteer groups, etc.)
    • Present to potential partners and community groups about the affiliate’s mission and opportunities for engagement.
  • Assist with development of special donor-specific events.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for special “themed” builds (e.g. Women’s Build, etc.).
  • Assist with the management and coordination of the affiliate’s Ambassador program.
Other Duties as Assigned
  • Assist Development team with execution of fundraising events.

This position requires the physical ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. The position requires clarity of vision at 20 feet or more, with or without corrective lenses. The position requires the ability to grasp, reach, stoop, speak and listen. Employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 10 lbs. The normal workplace will be in the administrative and ReStore offices, which are smoke-free and temperature controlled. Up to 10% of the work may be in non-temperature-controlled conditions, possibly outdoors or in warehouses.
