Since being founded locally in 1985, Make-A-Wish Illinois has granted more than 17,000 wishes and continues its mission to share the power of a wish with children in all 102 counties across the state.

The Donor Relations Intern will be a member of the Individual Giving team within the Development Department of Make-A-Wish® Illinois and is responsible for assisting the Donor Relations Coordinator to ensure that donors feel highly engaged with the Make-A-Wish® mission. The Donor Relations Intern will (1) collect information from various sources to write short biographical sketches of wish children to be used for donor stewardship and (2) ensure data integrity through projects in the customer relationship management (CRM) database, Salesforce.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Run reports in CRM to identify wish kids for donor stewardship
- Compile information from multiple sources to write and edit succinct, emotionally powerful wish child stories and profiles
- Create, assemble, and distribute framed recognition pieces for donors
- Ensure data integrity in CRM through project-based work
- Assist Development team members with administrative support
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned
Time Commitment: Internship will take place from June through August. Part-time, hybrid work with one day in the office per week and remainder of work completed remotely.
Requirements
Skills and Abilities:
- Creative writing and editing skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications
- Knowledge of Salesforce CRM a plus but not required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Desire to contribute to the mission of Make-A-Wish
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or business administration
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a hybrid environment and commute to our downtown Chicago office one day per week (we are located in the Central Loop)
- Minimum age for all internships is 18
- Selected candidates will be asked to participate in a criminal background check.
