Dog Daycare Attendant

SkyHi is searching for a part-time Dog Daycare specialist with steady availability!

Strong applicants will have a fairly flexible schedule with at least partial availability for M-F shifts, weekends as needed, reliable transportation, and ideally a history of working/handling dogs (however we will provide behavior/body language training to the right applicants). Applicants must be 18 or older.

Position Details: Daycare Attendant

• Supervision of daycare groups : Our group handlers supervise to make sure dogs are playing appropriately and safely. Running a playgroup involves practicing basic training with dogs like recall to their name, waiting at gates/doors, impulse control, as well as interrupting and preventing undesirable social behaviors (mounting, excessive barking, overly rough play, etc). Our group handlers routinely walk 3-4 miles per shift! You are on your feet, moving with the dogs, constantly!
• We are in need of part-time coverage. Schedules get posted 1 month at a time so while this schedule may be variable, it is set once it has been posted.
• Heavy emphasis on cleaning, facility chores, and picking up of dog waste, etc. We deep clean our entire facility top to bottom at the end of every day. We do a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure dogs are safe, healthy, comfortable, and the facility is running smoothly.
• Physical requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly. Respond QUICKLY to sounds/noises/movements. Working in Montana weather conditions such as snow, ice, rain, heat. In the winter, you are asked to snow shovel yards while outside, and in the summer you are asked to use water to help dogs cool off, and stay comfortable.
• Mental requirements: Patience, willingness to learn and be given directions by other coworkers/management. Always treating animals with dignity and respect. Reading and interpreting body language from dogs. Acting preventatively based on body language from dogs. Interact well with coworkers and participate as a team. Show up to work consistently and on time ready to understand and remember verbal directions. Complete tasks without direct supervision once trained and exercise independent judgment within the scope of the position.
