JOB SUMMARY
The role of this position will require an individual to take items from the dock to the proper departments in the plant after performing a rough sort of the merchandise. This position runs a heavy tonnage hydraulic press that bails hard goods and textiles for shipment. The scope of the position is to create bails that are approximately 1200 to 1500 pounds each in order to be loaded onto a 53’ foot truck for distribution.
Requirements and Expectations:
· Load and unload all trucks and trailer according to plant procedures quickly and efficiently. All donation trailers must be containerized.
· Report any vandalism, theft problems or maintenance requirements to the plant manager immediately. With safety in mind, protect the assets of the agency against all vandals and bandits.
· Obey all OSHA regulations and safety requirements. Promote good safety work habits. Report any safety violations or safety related problems to the plant manager. Use proper lifting techniques and available equipment as well as other approved safety techniques to avoid personal injuries.
· Maintain work area by keeping it clean and free of debris at all times. Work areas must be maintained according to the posted schematics. “Stashes” of merchandise are expressly prohibited. Employees, Customers or Visitors are prohibited from “Shopping” out of the Transportation Hub.
· Report any unauthorized shopping, purchasing or “stashing” of merchandise or requests of the aforementioned immediately to your supervisor. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.
· Will work in warehouse setting which is not temperature controlled.
· The position is very physically demanding and requires standing, twisting, pulling, pushing and moving large boxes of donations for long periods of time, up to 8 hours per day.
· Individuals must have the ability to walk, stoop, bend, reach, lift for extended periods of time
REGULAR DUTIES:
· The position will require the ability to lift, carry, move, and stack pallets and gaylords weighing up to 50 pounds on a continual basis.
· Individuals at the warehouse will be prone to dust, dirt, and may come in contact with allergens such as animal fur, or animal urine.
· The position will include the use of bailer machines, hand pallet jacks, motorized pallet jacks, banding snips, or other methods of banding material.
· Pushes lever to lower or raise Hydraulic Press.
· Perform repetitive motions in assembling, loading, and running machinery.
· Must work at required pace and meet designated goals and/ or quotas
· Responsible for safety of those assigned to work area.
· Cooperate with other departments/stores.
· Understand and implement agency mission.
· Assure compliance with agency policies.
· Promote a spirit of teamwork.
· Effectively and productively mange time.
· Maintain an acceptable quantity and quality of work.
· Attend meetings and training programs as directed.
· Perform any and all duties deemed necessary by the agency.

SPECIFIC SKILLS:
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Good organization skills.
· Must have no respiratory or other ailments, which are aggravated by dust, lint, cotton fiber, etc.
· Ability to walk, stoop, bend, reach, lift for extended periods of time and carry up to 50 pounds.
· Capable of climbing stairs while carrying heavy loads and work in all weather conditions.
· High School education preferred.
