Job Description
As a Dock Worker, you will be responsible for the shipping and receiving of all products at the dock as well as the proper bar code system location identification in the warehouse. The Dock Worker works with a variety of internal and external customers in coordinating the receiving and distribution of product.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Loads and unloads all types of material handling equipment including but not limited to all different types of forklifts, industrial batteries, chargers, forklift parts and other specialty equipment from multiple types of tractor/trailers.
- Blocks and braces equipment in OTR trailers for proper secure shipping.
- Assists local trucking drivers with strapping and chaining of equipment.
- Uses proper shipping and receiving procedures including utilization of Company’s bar-coding system to keep track of proper location of all assets in the warehouse.
- Uses overhead crane system to lift equipment including forklifts and industrial batteries, as required.
- Checks supplier packing slips and confirms receipt of product in good condition.
- Ensures proper damage assessments, takes pictures and notes according to procedure for all Company assets received into building.
- Ensures Rental Quality Assurance Program is employed on all company assets leaving building.
- Dates, signs, and forwards all completed packing slips to Transportation Administrator.
- Organizes and palletizes scrap batteries and works with Rental department to ensure proper shipping of the same.
- Maintains clean shipping/receiving area as well as keeps entire warehouse area swept and clean.
- Waters and charges batteries in rental and demo trucks as well as other company assets, as needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to match, sort and collate information as well as organize data.
- Skilled in customer relations by exchanging information with courtesy and consideration.
- Ability to understand how equipment is set up for shipments, labeling, logging, and counting.
- Ability to multi-task, and close attention to detail.
Education & Experience:
This position requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, along with a minimum of six months practical skills experience. Must have previous operator training and experience using a forklift.
