Milwaukee County Department of Human Resources has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Diversity, Equity & Inclusion professional who is passionate about driving a productive, positive, results-oriented work culture through developing and implementing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion programming. This individual will be a key partner with employees and leaders to ensure diversity and Inclusion are understood as business imperatives. They will lead DE&I programming efforts, as well as evaluate outcomes, collaborating with Human Resources staff, organization leaders, and employees.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Oversee and lead existing employee engagement activities such as the County's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council and Network Resource Groups (NRG).
- Develop and lead new programming in the areas of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, to enrich employee experience.
- Collaborate with the Office of Equity in planning volunteer and community programs designed to enrich and revitalize our community and engage employees in these programs.
- Oversee internal communications & engagement initiatives surrounding cultural holidays and celebrations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion topics for training purposes.
- Work with HR colleagues to integrate diversity and Inclusion strategies in recruitment, performance management, leadership assessment, and training.
The ideal candidate will be committed to creating practices and programs that enhance the work environment and overall service provided for an organization of approximately 4,000 employees in a diverse, multi-function workplace. This position reports to the Human Resources Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Director.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Communications, or a related field.
- One to three years of Diversity, equity & inclusion, or program management experience.
- Strong ability to connect with people, building trusting relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Thorough knowledge of Federal and Wisconsin employment laws.
- Action-oriented/proactive; driven to seek and deliver on service improvements.
- Successful experience in designing and facilitating training programs that are engaging and impactful.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong group presentation skills.
- Service-oriented in both work and leadership style.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Human Resources or DEI Certification
- Master's Degree
- Some OD experience preferred.
