Distribution Center Custodian

As a member of the Distribution Team, the Distribution Center Custodian is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and overall maintenance of large Distribution Center, internal and external areas.

Position responsibilities:

• Ensures the warehouse is neat, orderly, and always ready for visitors and tours by completing all duties and maintenance of the Distribution Center.
• Ensures outside grounds are maintained and all walkways and entrances are clear during all-weather situations. This includes all entrances and dock doors.
• Maintains the janitorial closet, tracks supply usage and provide supply order needs monthly.
• Coordinates with vendors to service and test equipment and resolve other maintenance and warehouse needs as necessary.
• Ensures powered equipment batteries are watered on set schedule and all internal manual equipment is properly maintained for the safety of employees. This includes but is not limited to pick carts, pallet jacks, fans, dock locks, etc.
• Records and reports all needed repairs. Track equipment and generator hours.
• Replace soap, paper products, and set up special events as needed.
• Maintain a safe working environment by working in a safe manner, following all current Distribution safety rules including HazMat training.
• Effectively and safely operate standard maintenance tools such as power tools, and basic hand tools.
• Completing any additional task or duties designed by the Distribution Manager or Operations Manager.
• Identify and report potential safety hazards to appropriate personnel.

Position requirements:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); One year of experience in a similar position; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of Maintenance procedures in a Distribution Center
• Knowledge of cleaning procedures and equipment.
• Ability to operate and maintain floor machines and trash compactor safely.
• Ability to drive powered equipment (forklift, OP, Reach, Scissor lift, floor sweeper, walkie rider)
• Ability to understand, remember and apply procedures to safely complete daily tasks.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, and manuals.
• Ability to complete routine paperwork.
• Ability to provide verbal and written communication of maintenance and warehouse needs.
• Ability to carry out written and oral instructions.
• Ability to coordinate with service vendors to coordinate building needs. (Compactor, generator, testing, etc.)
• Individual contributor - Focus on producing own work; meeting quality and deadline expectations.
