TheDistribution Center Controller will provide leadership and development of analytic tools and processes across all company Distribution Centers and have a companywide leadership role in inventory valuation accounting, policies, and procedures as well as play a key role in governing Inventory costing execution and developing/monitoring key analytics to ensure complete transparency for the Controllership and FP&A teams. This position will also play a key role in supporting the ASC's plant and operating business units and report directly to the company's Corporate Controller.
Requirements:How Will You Help?
- Distribution Center Controllership
- Report, analyze and monitor monthly inventory balances and product costs (including freight and duty costs and standard to actual cost variances) and ensure amounts reported comply with USGAAP and company policies.
- Support the financial accounting month-end close process, external audits, and process improvement initiatives.
- Partner with FP&A and operating unit management to develop and execute inventory and cost reduction plans, and product cost make versus buy decisions.
- Play a key role in preparing, analyzing, and understanding costs for new products and equipment.
- Analyze and provide insight for inventory level and cost trends including material, freight, and duty costs.
- Participate and help lead efforts, with Distribution Center management in cost and process improvement projects.
- Company policies and procedures
- Develop and implement inventory valuation, cost accounting and material scrap accounting policies, procedures and internal controls used by Plant Controllers and other key organizations (Operations, Procurement and Logistics)
- Monitor the company's cycle count processes and results and support the development of corrective action plans as necessary to ensure accurate inventory balances.
- Develop ERP system improvement and optimization objectives to improve reporting, controls, and processes, including forecasting processes.
- Company Inventory Valuation
- Calculate and monitor inventory valuation amounts including excess and obsolete allowances and capitalized variance amounts.
- Manage the periodic standard setting and costing process and ensure standard costs comply with company policy.
- Develop and implement process improvement and reporting standardization projects.
What Will You Bring?
- 10+ years of overall experience in finance and accounting; manufacturing and distribution accounting experience a plus
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, a CPA or CMA preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated strong project management skills, including ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and follow through on completion of high-profile projects.
