Security Dispatcher
General Information
Position: Security Dispatcher
Classification: Dispatch
Reports To: Office Manager
Department: Dispatch Center

Job Purpose: Monitor all client cameras to detect response/dispatch emergencies such as fires, alarms, alerts, intrusions, trespassers, and illegal entry into establishments to dispatch patrol supervisor to respond to the client site/property.

Primary Job Function
Monitor cameras, Operate radio, telephone, and computer equipment at emergency response centers. Receive and edit reports that are submitted to the system from the guards and supervisors to post to the client portal. Answer phones and dispatch response calls to the patrol supervisors for the client. Monitor all client cameras for alarms, alerts, intrusions, and or trespassers to dispatch to patrol supervisors. Monitor Guards schedule/times through software for safety and client request purposes. Other duties as requested.
Essential Job Functions
  • Determine response requirements and relative priorities of situations, and dispatch units in accordance with established procedures.
  • Record details of calls, dispatches, and messages.
  • Question client dispatch/callers to determine their site client locations, and the nature of their problems to relay type of response needed to patrol supervisor.
  • Monitor all client cameras, and computer screens, and contact emergency response field units to determine patrol units available for dispatch.
  • Receive incoming telephone or alarm system calls regarding emergency response to dispatch patrol units.
  • Maintain access to, and security of, highly sensitive and confidential materials.
  • Maintain files of information relating to emergency calls such as personnel rosters, and emergency call-out and other client information.
  • Monitor various radio frequencies from guards and patrol supervisors to keep apprised of developing situations.
  • Learn material and pass required tests for certification.
  • Answer routine inquiries, and refer calls not requiring dispatches to appropriate departments / contacts
  • Getting Information - Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates - Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
Job Knowledge
  • Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Telecommunications - Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems.
  • Public Safety and Security - Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Communication - Knowledge of how to effectively transfer and communicate information to the guards, patrol supervisors, and the client as required.
  • Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Security 10 Codes Knowledge - Knowledge of some 10 codes (List will be provided)
