Dishwasher/Prep Cook

As a Dishwasher at Silverfern North, an independent senior living community, you play an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of our kitchen. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that all kitchenware, utensils, and equipment are clean, sanitized, and ready for use, supporting the culinary team in providing high-quality dining experiences for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Dishwashing and Cleaning:
• Wash dishes, flatware, glassware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils using commercial dishwashing equipment.
• Ensure all items are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and free of residue.
• Maintain an organized and efficient dishwashing area, ensuring a steady supply of clean dishes to the kitchen staff.
• Sort and stack clean dishes, glassware, and utensils for easy access, help servers prepare for table setting
• Inspect kitchen equipment, including dishwashers, for cleanliness, functionality, and potential issues, Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
• Keep track of cleaning supplies and dishwashing detergents, and report low stock levels to the supervisor.
• Support for Kitchen Staff:
• Assist with food prep by washing, peeling, and chopping fruits and vegetables as needed.
• Safety and Sanitation:
• Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, including handling kitchenware and equipment with care.
• Ensure all work areas, including the dishwashing station, are clean and sanitized at all times.
• Properly handle and dispose of kitchen waste, including recycling and composting.
• Follow guidelines for the disposal of hazardous materials if encountered.
• Teamwork:
• Collaborate with kitchen staff, servers, and other team members to ensure a smooth and efficient dining service.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
• Flexibility:
• Be prepared to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required to meet the community's needs.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a dishwasher in a restaurant, senior living, or hospitality setting is advantageous.
• Knowledge of proper dishwashing techniques and the use of commercial dishwashing equipment.
• Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy trays, and operate dishwashing machinery.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
