Title:Dishwasher/Kitchen Helper

Hours: 40 hours per week (flexible to meet program and client needs)
Job Summary:
This position reports to the Food Services Manager. This position is responsible for keeping the dish room clean and up to our grade A* health code standards. The Dishwaser/ Kitchen Helper position consist of doing dishes, mopping, cleaning and proper storage of all food items. Must have the ability to read and understand the use of the dish machine and all MSDS* chemicals and materials required. This position will also do some preliminary food prep for the cook staff.
Essential Functions:
- Operate all kitchen and dishwashing equipment safely.
- Scrape, rinse, and load dishes and utensils into dish machine
- Wash and sanitize all pans, utensils, and dishes
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain dish machine
- Unload dishes and utensils from dish machine and organize them properly
- Empty trash containers regularly
- Maintain a clean work area and kitchen by sweeping and mopping as needed
- Clean food prep stations and equipment
- Wash dishes, glassware, equipment, and silverware by hand when necessary
- Restock all supplies and stock any deliveries received in a timely and safe manner
- Remove all trash and debris from work area daily.
- Assist other kitchen personnel with task.
- Perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management as required related to food service.
- Assist the chef or cook in cooking and plating dishes
- Follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient operation.

Minimum Education and Experience: High school diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent education and experience such as one (1) year as a cook with large volume production. Demonstrated ability to communicate read and follow menus and recipes effectively in English and compute basic mathematical calculations related to duties, Food Handlers Card
Other:
· Must have Food Handlers Card on first day of work and maintain annual renewal
Skills:
· Ability to work effectively with clients, volunteers.
· Ability to communicate read and follow menus and recipes effectively in English and compute basic mathematical calculations.
· Ability to make decisions based on education, preparation and experience, which reflect consistency with the organizations philosophy, policies and procedures.
· Ability to properly operate, clean and sanitized commercial kitchen equipment such as but not limited to ovens, grills, steamers, broilers, hot boxes.
· Knife skills: Ability to slice, chop and diced various food products in a safe and timely manner.
Language Skills: Ability to read and write using the English language, decipher recipes, complete food requisitions and keep excellent records.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to decrease and increase recipes to proportions.
