Sustainable Finance is a rapidly growing field that focuses on integrating environmental, social and governance considerations into financial decision making with the aim of promoting long-term sustainable development and mitigating the negative impacts of economic activity on the environment, society and economy.
Sustainable Project Finance aims to deliver the financing of projects that promote sustainable development and have positive environmental, social, and economic impacts.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead, structure, underwrite and execute renewable energy and energy transition financing transactions in the Americas including greenfield, brownfield, holdco/midco and acquisition financing
- Apply deep understanding of applicable sectors and products
- Demonstrate high quality strategic thinking, alongside taking a leadership role for deal origination in conjunction with other senior bankers
- Use sector and debt advisory / structuring expertise to assist in M&A and other event situations (buy/sell-side roles, deal contingent hedging, debt capital markets)
- Project and financing documentation review, overseeing the deal team interface with internal & external legal counsels and negotiating deal points with clients
- Review credit assessment on transactions and provide guidance to deal teams to optimise internal balance sheet & credit approval processes
- Oversee junior colleagues and provide guidance and supervision
- Act as senior oversight on outcomes of project level due diligence including relevant technical, engineering and market studies
- Structuring and advice on most effective solutions and products to deliver on clients goals
- Uphold the highest level of integrity and act as a role model for Barclays values and business principles

Person Specification
- Expert verbal & written communication, negotiation & interpersonal skills
- Advanced analytical & presentational skills, including review of financial modeling & stress analyses and knowledge of Excel/PowerPoint
- Ability to drive multiple teams across product and geographical lines
- Ability to handle and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to manage and develop junior colleagues
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field of study
- Over 10 years' experience across Americas infrastructure & sustainable-related deal execution, preferably at a large financial institution, corporation or rating agency
- Deep sector-specific understanding of risk management & credit mitigants
- Robust knowledge of capital markets & corporate finance principles
- Strong referencing amongst the relevant client community (including utilities, developers and financial investors)
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree
- Familiarity with rating agency methodologies & scorecards
- Experience with loan distribution and institutional placement / arranging
- Prior debt advisory experience
