The Supply Chain Engineering Director will be responsible for overall performance goals for productivity, cost, quality, inventory and storage of multi-client, multi-site floor distribution center for commercial and residential delivery service and support all aspects of business development.
What you'll be doing at XGS..
- Manage planning and set up of warehousing space and ensure optimum use of space and takes an active role in forecasting and planning
- Ensures the company is employing best practices in lean management, Kaizen and the like
- Establishes operational procedures for timely and accurate activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials and keeping warehouse inventory current
- Ensures that Service Center users are trained and consistently use the Warehouse Management System (WMS)
- Support service centers in the execution of SOP; establish goals and metrics to ensure inventory control, decrease product damage, reduce accidents and injuries and improve profitability
- Reviews analyses of activities; costs (full P&L responsibility), operations, WM (Warehouse Management) systems, and forecasts data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives
- Support service center managers to create an effective labor plan to ensure proper staffing levels, manage attrition, control labor spend to include seasonal, full-time, part-time, temporary labor and overtime
- Set up, and plan SOP schedule for distribution services, including receiving, shipping, and handling returned/damaged goods and administrative activities to ensure the customer requirements are met
- Participate in the development of, revenue and profit (P&L) for site and ensure all revenue assessorial is captured to maximize revenue at the site, with an understanding of client’s contracts and potential for future business
- Ensure customer and vendor contract requirements are administered and enforced
- Collaborate with Finance and Equipment Management to identify and manage warehouse needs for equipment leases and purchases
- Collaborate in building leasing and purchase activities including locating the most effective sites that leverage and optimize the transportation system
What are we looking for in a candidate...
- Minimum of 10 years related Supply Chain management, preferably in 3PL, Distribution or LTL Operations
- 7-10 years of Transportation industry experience overall, required
- Management or project management experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related area, or combination of equivalent education and work experience
- Demonstrated proficiency using P.C. spreadsheet, word processing and database management applications (e.g., MS Access, Excel and Word)
- Ability to write system queries and pull reports for analysis
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated analytical, business planning and problem-solving skills
- Ability to identify issues, requirements and opportunities for improvement
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
