Job Description:

The Director of Strategy and Operations, Hybrid Cloud will report to Hybrid Cloud's VP of Strategy & Operations and will be responsible for both short and long-term strategies and operational excellence initiatives, supporting the Hybrid Cloud business unit. With anticipated FY24 revenue near $6B, the Hybrid Cloud business unit solves customer challenges around transforming through data, modernizing IT infrastructure, and simplifying Hybrid Cloud operations. HPE product offerings within the Hybrid Cloud business unit's scope include the HPE GreenLake cloud platform, Storage, Hybrid Cloud SaaS, Private Cloud, and HPE GreenLake Flex (as-a-Service) Solutions.

The Director of Strategy & Operations, Hybrid Cloud will:

  • Quickly develop an in-depth understanding of HPE's and HPE's Hybrid Cloud business
  • Build a trust-advisory relationship with the business leadership team, ranging from Director to EVP
  • Develop recommendations for improving and evolving the business in areas including organic growth, M&A, partnership strategies, sales and customer experience, go-to-market strategies, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.
  • Work across company leadership to gain buy-in and drive implementation of strategic recommendations
  • Shape M&A pipeline for the business unit, in partnership with HPE Corporate Strategy and HPE Corporate Development

Preferred location: San Jose , CA

Secondary location: Spring, TX

Responsibilities:

Advising Growth and Profitability Strategy

  • Provides strategic advice to senior executive management regarding overall targeted growth and operational efficiency
  • Provides ongoing strategic guidance to plan and manage growth of business unit revenues and market share.
  • Facilitates senior level discussions around organic and inorganic growth options, and plays an active role in guiding transactions to a successful close.
  • Designs and develops business models and market strategies that increase organizational effectiveness.
  • Drives operational efficiency initiatives that improve business unit profitability

Providing Thought & Team Leadership

  • Demonstrates innovative thought leadership by advising Senior Director, VP, SVP and EVP-level executives as appropriate.
  • Creates a performance driven culture
  • Influences C-level and senior executives on a wide range of business issues, including risk management and implementation tactics.
  • Provides strong leadership, develops clear goals, mentors and coaches junior team members and manages / drives change.

Applying Financial Rigor

  • Develops financially sound, executable, data-driven business strategies that increase shareholder value.
  • Supports HPE and business unit leadership team decision making with rigorous financial analysis and modelling.

Qualifications / Candidate Profile

  • Undergraduate degree and MBA (or equivalent) required, preferably from a top 10 program
  • Engineering experience preferred
  • Extensive experience at a top 3 strategy consulting firm
  • 7+ years of results-oriented strategy experience, with an ability to articulate a global vision for the organization
  • 5+ years of experience managing, motivating and retaining a high-performance team
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships at the senior executive level, and manage complex cross-functional initiatives with minimal direction
  • Experience working with enterprise technology organizations, either as a strategic advisor or in an internal strategy function
  • Strong understanding of the broader technology landscape
  • Operational background and demonstrated success in leading complex projects and programs across multiple business models and global business units
  • Proven track record of translating high level strategy into actionable operational plans
  • Passion for catalyzing and driving change, and the skills to develop and drive strategic initiatives across all facets of HPE's businesses
  • Ability to articulate & convey important messages in a clear and compelling manner

Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. If this is a sales role, then the listed salary range reflects combined base salary and target-level sales compensation pay. If this is a non-sales role, then the listed salary range reflects base salary only. Variable incentives may also be offered. Annual Salary: $133,000.00 - $322,000.00
