The Opportunity:

Your role at Sephora:
As a Director of Strategic Sourcing, you will be responsible for developing strong and effective business partner relationships by bringing deep category and industry expertise, continuously driving process improvements and working closely with cross-functional teams and business leaders to develop and implement global spend strategies across all Technology, including Digital and Revenue Generation, and Supply Chain categories. You will leverage your experience to deliver significant value to key stakeholders by managing the end-to-end Strategic Sourcing process to support IT, Digital, Supply Chain, and Warehousing functions. The Director will closely partner with the Director of Indirect Strategic Sourcing and the Accounts Payable team to continuously improve and deliver a detailed Source to Pay user experience for the end-users.  

 

Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Sourcing, this role is focused on positioning our organization as a trusted partner to our internal clients to increase spend under management, standardize and streamline processes, and implement Strategic Sourcing strategies that deliver tangible value to the business while increasing internal customer satisfaction. The leader is responsible for leading teams of category managers to carry over $1B+ in annual spend across multiple categories such as Supply Chain (e.g. Logistics, Distribution Centers & Warehousing, Air/Ocean Freight), IT (e.g. Software/SaaS/PaaS/Cloud, Hardware, IT Services, Network, Telecom, and Cybersecurity; or Core Applications including Data and Analytics), and Digital (e.g. Revenue Generation, Payments, Alternative Payments) categories.

 

The Director must be able to use experiences to deliver significant value to key stakeholders in strategic planning, category management, risk assessment, spend analysis, price, and contract negotiations.  In addition, you will: 

  • Develop and build strong relationships with key stakeholders and be recognized as a valued partner, and influence business decisions through demonstration of strategic mindset and deep sourcing process and category expertise
  • Collaborate annually with the business unit and Finance on strategic cost savings targets and project plans.
  • Continually improve supplier performance through effective contracts and supplier performance management methodologies
  • Achieve year-over-year improvements in Indirect spend, focusing on quality and service
  • In partnership with department subject matter experts, create and execute RFPs as needed.
  • Strategize across categories/departments to identify opportunities for gained efficiencies and cost-effectiveness in supplier negotiations
  • Conduct all phases in developing complex contracts, including drafting statements of work, request for proposal creation, and contract evaluation and negotiations.
  • Build project plans and timelines to ensure key milestones are being captured and met as it relates to the sourcing process
  • Effectively communicate status updates to key stakeholders, including timely identification and escalation/resolution of issues
  • Work closely with legal and business partners to negotiate the most optimal contracts in both business and legal terms
  • Ensure active workload balancing, prioritization, execution, and KPI management of the Strategic Sourcing team for effectiveness and efficiency improvements
  • Participating actively to improve Sephora's Source to Pay Processes, Policies, Automation, Sustainability, Supplier Diversity, and 3rd party Risk goals.

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 12+ years of corporate/retail level Strategic Sourcing experience with significant people management experience building and coaching expert teams
  • Expertise with multiple Indirect spend categories and associated sub-categories, including strategy formation, stakeholder alignment, and negotiations
  • Ability to build effective, strategic relationships with key stakeholders, team, and the Vice President of Strategic Sourcing to drive and execute sourcing strategies to drive and deliver results
  • Experience managing and developing direct reports
  • Ability to summarize complex business issues and evaluate sourcing opportunities for improved functionality, cost savings, and SLAs.
  • Excellent project and timeline management skills to manage sourcing projects end-to-end, from project intake, onboarding to project closure, operationalization, transition, and governance
  • Facilitate and lead effective team meetings with cross-functional partners
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with developing and evaluating statements of work, risk analysis, contract writing, and market research
  • Experienced and skilled negotiator with the utilization of flexible strategies
  • Experience conducting spend data analysis and strategic planning with business partners
  • Ability to successfully influence both internal and external partners
  • Excellent communication skills, including oral, written, and interpersonal. Experience interfacing with senior-level stakeholders
  • Advanced analytics, excel, presentation, and data visualization skills (required).

The annual base salary range for this position is $201,000.00 - $225,000.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.  Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.  Sephora offers a generous benefits package to full-time employees, which includes comprehensive health, dental and vision plans; a superior 401(k) plan, various paid time off programs; employee discount/perks; life insurance; disability insurance; flexible spending accounts; and an employee referral bonus program.
