What You'll Do
You'll establish and develop relationships with strategic partner investment firms and key intermediaries within their assigned focus firms. Build and increase the visibility of Principal Financial Group's capabilities in the retirement plan market. You'll identify and implement new, strategic opportunities to uncover new revenue streams, while also growing the pipeline of new opportunities, generate growth in new sales, and increase retention of existing clients. In partnership with the SVP, Retirement Distribution, and the sales leadership team, manages the Strategic Partnership priorities, projects, and initiatives.
Here are some of the examples of the things you'll do:
Focus on growth of revenue, visibility, and deployment of the strategic investment partner program. Work directly with the strategic investment partners to activate deployment of products externally.
Utilizing data and analysis to improve partnership value by fostering a brand reputation as the place investment partners and their affiliates aspire to be a part.
Collaborate with internal product, marketing, and other teams to ensure activation and deployment of defined strategic initiatives to meet targets.
Supporting, planning, and executing strategic growth initiative concepts and strategies of the SVP, Retirement Distribution and sales leadership team.
Collaborate with individuals in other business units (Principal Asset Management, Benefits & Protection, and Principal International) who regularly interact with strategic partners across our markets.

Who You Are
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 10+ years’ experience selling employer-sponsored retirement plans.
Strong understanding of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans.
Existing relationships with key retirement firms and intermediaries.
Proven ability to manage multiple partner relationships and sales processes (RFPs).
Must possess strong communication and organizational skills, interpersonal and relationship-building skills, problem-solving skills, and leadership skills.
Strong knowledge of Principal business unit and company products is required; ability to clearly position Principal, at an enterprise level, in the large and institutional consultant and retirement markets.
Understanding of the competitive landscape in all retirement plan markets.
Ability to think critically and strategically to uncover incremental revenue streams for Principal and its strategic partners.
Demonstrated agility and resilience.
Travel required, 30%.
This position requires successful completion of motor vehicle driving record check.
Skills that will help you stand out:
- Experience selling across retirement, asset management and employee benefit markets.
Licenses Required within 5 months of employment:
- Successful Registration as an Investment Company Products/Variable contracts Limited Representative (FINRA Series 6 or equivalent).
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$95200 - $182400 / year
