The Position
Location: This is a remote, field based position. The person selected for this role can reside anywhere in the United States.
Travel Requirements: This position has up to 50% travel requirements. Most travel for this job is by airplane.

Your Opportunity
As the Director, State Government Affairs, you will:

  • Develop and lead the organization's state lobbying strategies for half of the United States on behalf of Roche Diagnostics.
  • Create strategic alignment between the interests of business areas and our lobbying and reimbursement activities intended to protect and expand our business.
  • Improve and maintain relations with state and local government officials.
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with key state legislators and regulators, associations and advocacy groups to support business and product goals.
  • Provide advice and counsel to senior management on decisions that impact strategies and policies of the company.
  • Representative activities include lobbying state Governors, legislators, and state agencies, directing the development of programs to monitor and analyze pending legislation and regulations that may affect the organization and developing recommendations for addressing business strategies and goals.
  • Communicate the organization's position on various issues to government officials.
  • Participate with other senior leaders to establish strategic plans and objectives on issues effecting Roche products and services.
  • Assist in development of corporate policies and authorize their implementation.
  • Participate in development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs and people for the company.
  • Interact with executives both internal and external and/or major customers for the purpose of influencing and negotiating.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the quality system and achieving quality objectives through daily actions.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in political or physical science
  • 8 years experience as an industry lobbyist, senior legislative aide, or regulator
  • 12 years of medical device business experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA preferred.
  • 8 years experience as an industry lobbyist, senior legislative aide, or regulator
