Director, Senior Corporate Counsel

The role:

Ouro is looking to hire a Senior Corporate Counsel to help the company develop and expand its innovative business in a complex and dynamic regulatory environment, supporting the company’s other lawyers, compliance professionals, sales team, and business managers. The ideal candidate will have financial services and consumer protection experience, consumer privacy experience, and thrives in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

The attorney will advise the business, comprised of a cross-functional team of professionals, on strategies and risks related to privacy matters, product launches, commercial transactions and general operations. The attorney may also be responsible for providing advice on marketing, terms of use, and other compliance matters. Key areas include federal regulation of financial institutions with particular focus on Regulation E, Privacy, Reg Z (TILA), UDAAP, GLBA, CCPA, state and federal regulation of money services businesses and related emerging payments issues.

This position will report directly to the Vice President, Regulatory Counsel and it will be part of the Legal Department based at the company’s corporate headquarters in Austin, Texas.

What You’ll Do:

• Support the business and product teams with regulatory counsel while developing new and innovative financial products.

• Provide strategic legal and business advice to facilitate business relationships with key business partners.

• Manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.

• Review consumer-facing materials and advise marketing clients directly on legal and regulatory requirements related to marketing, promotions and sweepstakes.

• Remain up-to-date on relevant financial services, payments, consumer protection, advertising and privacy laws and regulations to provide sound regulatory and compliance advice.

• Draft terms of use, policies, disclosures and other related implementation and user experience materials.

• Interact directly with the company’s issuing banks and third-party distributors on legal and compliance issues.

• Support legal team on transactional matters with regulatory implications, including commercial contracts and strategic transactions.

Experience We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years of financial services regulatory experience.

• Knowledge of state and federal consumer privacy laws.

• Experience working cross-functionally and using strategic thinking to achieve business objectives.

• Experience working with and managing outside counsel.

• Strong interpersonal and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated commitment to providing the highest quality legal services.

• Practice experience in public sector (financial institutions, regulatory agency or similar) a plus.

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. Admission to one or more state bar associations.

• Ability to travel domestically on occasion.
