Summary
Oversees the development and implementation of Sales Recruiting programs to facilitate the building and maintaining of a global world-class sales organization. Manages the planning, development, implementation, of strategies to identify, recruit, and hire the future commercial business leaders for the winery. Manages the growth and development of a direct staff ensuring that they are successfully implementing the recruiting objectives as designed.

Essential Functions

  • Provides strategic oversight and leadership to the Gallo Sales Recruiting program.
  • Develops and ensures the effective operation of the College Sales Recruitment. Program to meet the needs of winery sales teams as well as partner distributors.
  • Partners with sales leadership to identify personnel needs, implement workforce planning strategies and champion overall strategy for Sales talent pipelines.
  • Ensures the hiring needs of distributor partners are being met by presenting them with superior business-minded candidates.
  • Sets strategic and tactical goals for Sales Recruiting by proactively researching industry trends, analyzing the needs of the sales team, gathering data from vendors and then formulating comprehensive recruiting initiatives.
  • Manages workflow of the recruiters; develops and maintains the day-to-day accountability for the recruiting activities (i.e. Active and passive candidate engagement activities).
  • Coaches recruiting staff in the use of best practice recruiting techniques; continuously develops the performance of team members.
  • Develops strategies to partner with colleges and universities to identify, hire, develop superior candidates for entry into the sales organization; maintains a network of key campus contacts to help identify and source qualified candidates.
  • Develops and maintains an effective college sales recruitment program to meet the needs of the area as well as partner Distributors identified as key recruiting sites.
  • Evaluates recruiting efforts to determine if targeted colleges and universities are presenting the best qualified candidate pool; makes recommendations to the leadership team.
  • Creates, fosters and nurtures a sales environment that continues to make Gallo the preferred employer of choice in CPG Sales.
  • Ability to leverage technology (e.g., Social Media) and digital assets in order to monitor performance, identify opportunities, direct the actions of team and make decisions.
  • Accountable for building innovative culture and entrepreneurial mindset –driving change and future focused.
  • Participates in the selection and interview process for all RMTR candidates.
  • Acts as a Gallo Ambassador, advocating for our brands, including hosting events, leveraging social media and other tools to promote for Gallo sales within his/her community.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

  • Develops, coaches and mentors peers, indirect and subordinate staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of Sales Recruiting, corporate organizational development, corporate HR, wine sales management, or wine distribution management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; or High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 12 years of Sales Recruiting, corporate organizational development, Corporate HR, wine sales management, or wine distribution management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to travel by airplane and automobile up to 50% to conduct job duties.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of Gallo winery sales or Gallo winery HR or distributor sales or distributor HR experience to include a prior director level rotation within Gallo winery sales reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Master's degree plus 8 years of Gallo winery sales or HR or distributor sales or HR experience to include a prior director level rotation within Gallo winery sales reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Supervisory/managerial experience to include a rotation as a Business Development Manager, Account Manager 2, or Distributor Area Manager/Senior leadership role.
  • Sales Leadership Development Program (SLDP) participant.
  • Skilled in reading, analyzing and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence and press releases.
  • Skilled in effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clientele, customers and the general public.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and utilizing specialized software such as SMIS Data Warehouse, SAP, IRI, Nielson and Spectra.
  • Skilled in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportion, percentage, area, circumference and volume.
  • Skilled in solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Skilled in interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Compensation

  • Hiring salary range posted: $169,700 - $254,500.
  • Eligible for bonus and car program.
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
