Summary of Responsibilities:This is a live-in position that manages the Residence
Life and Student Conduct functions of the University. The Director leads a staff to support the strategic goals of Drew University, including the continued development of living-learning environments in the residence halls by supervising the staff conducting educational, moral, and social programming for students in residence. The Director is responsible for providing supervision to three full-time Residence Life Coordinators, one full-time
Student Conduct Coordinator, and is indirectly responsible for para-professional residential staff. The Director coaches all levels of staff to a common understanding of university and divisional goals and develops specific means for putting these into practice. The Director works with Campus Life administration to provide a vision for residential engagement while managing the daily operations of the residence halls for 1,400 undergraduate students and 80 graduate students. The Director manages the opening and closing of residence halls, break closing and re-openings, including First Year student and Returning Student move-in days. The Director manages the recruitment and hiring process, education and training for professional staff of the department, and provides crisis support for professional staff first responders. The Director will lead the university’s
Student Conduct operation, including training students on their rights and responsibilities. The Director is responsible for after hours/weekend /holiday on-call duties to address any campus emergencies. The Director will develop, implement, and assess crisis response protocols of live-in professional staff. The Director will provide crisis intervention/assessments to professional staff and respond to emergencies on campus as needed. The Director will ensure safety and mental health referrals are made on behalf of and by making referrals to appropriate campus resources and services. The Director will serve on the Critical Incident Response Team and Behavioral Intervention Committee. Serves as the lead hearing officer for Title IX cases. The Director advises students
and Student groups as needed and will maintain a high level of visibility within the residential and campus community is expected.
