Many people cringe at the thought of "paying the bills", as it's a major pain point around the globe. Businesses often struggle to receive outstanding payments from their customers, manage their cash flow, and understand & reconcile their outstanding receivables. Bill Payment typically involves invoicing, payments, and reconciliation, and in today's world, more and more of our expenses and services are paid for on a recurring basis, via subscriptions. The products we build & own at Mastercard are attacking these problems head on and making it easier for customers to manage their household finances, banks to deliver cutting edge, modern, embedded experiences, and business to manage payments. The Director, Product Management supports the Head of Global Bill Pay as a strategic advisor & owner of new product strategy that takes local assets across a portfolio of businesses and modernizes them, with an eye towards business expansion, in partnership with existing & new customers & markets.
The Role :
- Evaluate and report on business objectives and progress across the portfolio.
- Develop a new platform strategy with an eye towards key pain points across the bill pay value chain.
- Own every element of new business & product development, business case creation, and assessment of M&A or investment opportunities.
- Conduct new market assessments and work with cross functional teams to evaluate the competitive dynamics and relevant trends in the payments industry, such as open banking, subscription management, and embedded finance.
- Adhere to the business product innovations life cycle by following the New Product Introduction process (Ideate, Innovate, Incubate) before commercialization.
- Partner with Marketing and regional sales teams to help in determining product positioning and placement, coordinate internally product launch activities and ensure successful customer/market adoption.
- Be responsible for maintaining a pipeline of innovative new products that provides significant value proposition to our customers, and access new segments to create a high degree of differentiation and drive future revenue growth.
- Coordinate with business stakeholders and Technology teams to collect, clarify, and translate business requirements into documentation and conceptual design, defining measurements of success, and providing product line performance reporting.
- Work with larger Platform Development team to ensure that services are developed in a way that optimizes customer value through ease of integration and Mastercard value through common services and product reusability and scalability.

- Background in Consulting, with some experience in or a desire to explore Product Management
- Hard working, desire to learn about Global Payment Trends & roll up your sleeves to build awesome products
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to drive compelling narratives / storylines, and business cases - driving clear consensus on product value propositions that are synthesized from a variety of inputs and viewpoints
- Ability to articulate product vision to external & internal partners, generate interest, close and manage the partnership to scale (including driving commercial agreements)
- Experience in the Payments industry- including banks, consumer or business, cards, financial services, technology, or corporate innovation (e.g., previously with worked with or at fintechs, issuers, acquirers, processors, digital wallets, super apps, tech platforms)
