Meet the team:

The Director, Manufacturing Engineering leads an engineering team which provides support to Dexcom's internal manufacturing lines located in Mesa, Az. Oversees the activities related to the technical support and sustaining engineering functions in a high velocity, fast paced product manufacturing site. Partners with multiple functions for overall site growth and development. Plans and directs implementation of equipment and process modifications to improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques and production yields for existing products. Acts as engineering liaison with product design and development to ensure processes and designs are compatible. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Close collaboration occurs between Dexcom’s internal and external manufacturing facilities to identify cost-saving and continuous improvement opportunities, and drive process improvements.

  • Sets goals, establishes priorities, manages resources, develops concept and approaches, reviews projects progress and results, and makes management decisions.
  • Supervises subordinate personnel including hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, coaching, initiating corrective or disciplinary actions, and establishing and sustaining long-term human resources and skill requirements for the engineering or operations teams.
  • Increases the overall productivity of the engineering or operations organization as evidenced by lower cost, higher quality solutions provided on time.
  • Establishes overall direction while creating and implementing a vision for continual improvement of engineering and operations services at a detail level as well as higher organizational level; work with others to establish methodologies to resolve process issues.
  • Provides people leadership focused upon personal and collective accountability while fostering an environment that enhances personal growth and career development through mentoring and training; performance management and challenging the organization to strive for higher performance levels.
  • Builds a reputation for the engineering or operations organization of high integrity, competitive leadership, and sustained performance by delivering quality product on a timely basis.
  • Ensures all engineering or operations projects, initiatives, and processes conform to all applicable requirements and specifications imposed by the company, the customer and/or the industry.
  • Develops clear and effective performance metrics for the engineering or operations organization, as well as individuals, measuring the effectiveness; uses metric trends and data to drive the business and decisions therein.
  • Manages engineering or operations issues by acting as the primary liaison with other members of management, engineering, manufacturing, clinical and regulatory, quality assurance, quality control, and marketing.
  • Directly responsible for implementation and maintenance of engineering or operations department procedures. Reports on the performance of engineering or operations. Plans and maintains departmental budget for the effective operation of the department.
  • This position assumes and performs other duties as required

  • People management responsibilities include hiring / terminations, performance reviews, career development coaching and compensation decisions.

Workplace Type:

  • The Workplace Type for this role is Assigned Desk. Based on the nature of your role you will have an assigned desk or office located at a Dexcom site and should plan to be onsite approximately 4-5 days per week.

Experience and Education

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree with 15+ years of industry experience.
  • 9+ years of successful management experience in relevant industry.
