JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
Reports to:
Chief Operating Officer
Job Summary:
Plans, coordinates, and supervises the activities of the plant operations and maintenance functions which are necessary in
maintaining physical structures (including HVAC, mechanical and electrical systems, utilities, and grounds).

Maintains performance improvement activities within various departments and will, as needed perform emergency repairs
at the various locations.
Provides leadership to department staff including interviewing, staffing, department training, and performance
management.

Education:
Position requires a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field.
Registration/Certification/Licensure:
Unexpired, unsuspended driver's license if incumbent will be required to drive as part of their routine job duties.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of construction industry experience preferably in a hospital setting.
Knowledge in HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, and electrical engineering and operation.
Five (5) years leadership/management experience.
Hospital facilities management including Environment of Care (EOC), plant operations, and Joint Commission survey
standards and compliance is preferred.

Other Requirements:
Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance
with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.

Specific technical skills required to fulfill position requirements.
Effectively communicates with all staff by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice.
May require the ability to drive as part of routine job duties.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitors and ensures timely and efficient implementation of all project activities. Coordinates with local partners and
maintains a good working relationship with the Maryland Department of Health and local government permitting offices.

Ensures hospital compliance with federal, state, city, and local regulatory agencies and ordinances as well as compliance with
organizations such as the Center for Medicare and Medical Services (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC), and Fire Departments.
2.
Performs leadership and management functions by ensuring appropriate scheduling and workflows, hiring, training,
performance management including discipline, and payroll and timekeeping processing. Oversees contracts and contract
labor. Effectively manages staff in compliance with applicable regulatory bodies and all established policies, procedures, and
legal guidelines.
3.
Oversees and coordinates the daily operations of the department such as corrective and preventive maintenance on all
equipment, oversight of the work order system, and troubleshooting and resolving issues as they occur. Demonstrates
advanced level of expertise and may be required to assist with maintenance activities as needed.
4.
Demonstrates strategic thinking in planning, implementing, and evaluating systems, programs, and initiatives for the
department. Develops and implements operational objectives, goals, and specific strategies required to support and achieve
the strategic outcomes (capital equipment, replacement, maintenance) of the department.
5.
Provides input and evaluates options for major plant and equipment replacement systems identifying technology
improvements and energy savings.
