Job description

At Genmab, we're committed to building extra[not]ordinary futures together, by developing antibody products and pioneering, knock-your-socks-off therapies that change the lives of patients and the future of cancer treatment and serious diseases. From our people who are caring, candid, and impact-driven to our business, which is innovative and rooted in science, we believe that being proudly unique, determined to be our best, and authentic is essential to fulfilling our purpose.
The Role:
Join our international Pathology team at Genmab, located in Plainsboro, New Jersey. As a member of the Translational and Quantitative Sciences (TQS) Group, you'll find yourself at the intersection of cutting-edge science and human health. Here, your work transcends routine lab activities, intertwining with the aspirations of colleagues across the globe. In our state-of-the-art histology and immunohistochemistry laboratory, you'll support a variety of programs, ranging from discovery to clinical trials, all aimed at advancing antibody therapeutics.
Responsibilities:
As an Anatomic Pathologist, your role is pivotal in shaping Genmab's pipeline. From early research to clinical trial stages, your expertise in histopathological evaluation, toxicologic pathology, and biomarker strategy will be invaluable. You will contribute your pathology expertise by both traditional slide evaluation, and by guiding the development and interpretation of advanced tissue-based assays, such as multiplex immunofluorescence panels, digital image analysis, and machine learning image projects. But it's not just about science; it's about the people. Collaboration, curiosity, and strategic thinking are the keystones of your role.
Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Engaging in dynamic discussion laboratory personnel in our US and European locations to guide them in developing IHC/IF single-plex/multi-plex assays and in situ hybridization (ISH)
  • Partnering closely with our digital pathology team and data scientists to develop and verify digital image analysis algorithms and results from image analysis projects.
  • Evaluating a variety of immunohistochemical stains for target screening and biomarker assessment.
  • Serving as an insightful expert representing Genmab in interactions with CROs, influencing the development of IHC and ISH assays crucial for our clinical endeavors.
  • Leading the interpretation of complex assays in clinical trials, bringing clarity and insight where it's most needed.
  • Performing, as needed, primary reads and/or peer review of pre-clinical toxicology studies, including tissue cross reactivity studies, investigative and GLP studies.
  • Providing your seasoned perspective on non-clinically or clinical toxicity observations, helping us design strategies to protect patient safety.
  • Exploring and implementing new technologies, staying at the forefront of digital image analysis and tissue-based assay development.

Requirements:
  • DVM / MD, with a minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience supporting discovery and development organizations.
  • Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Pathologists or American Board of Pathology in Anatomic pathology.
  • Graduate degree - PhD
  • Proven experience in managing pathology laboratories.
  • Deep knowledge in the design and interpretation of immunohistochemistry / immunofluorescent assays and digital pathology applications.
  • Background in immunology and immuno-oncology are desired.
  • Familiarity with biomarker and diagnostic development is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of statistics and data visualization software (SAS, GraphPad, Spotfire).
  • Strategic, innovative, and collaborative mindset
  • Willingness to engage in multidisciplinary teams.

Key Interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence, with the ability to navigate and foster a positive environment in a diverse professional setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, encompassing effective collaboration, empathetic communication, and a genuine interest in team development and well-being.

For US based candidates, the proposed salary band for this position is as follows:
$170,625.00---$284,375.00
The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses.
About You
  • You are passionate about our purpose and genuinely care about our mission to transform the lives of patients through innovative cancer treatment
  • You bring rigor and excellence to all that you do. You are a fierce believer in our rooted-in-science approach to problem-solving
  • You are a generous collaborator who can work in teams with diverse backgrounds
  • You are determined to do and be your best and take pride in enabling the best work of others on the team
  • You are not afraid to grapple with the unknown and be innovative
  • You have experience working in a fast-growing, dynamic company (or a strong desire to)
  • You work hard and are not afraid to have a little fun while you do so
