A part of the Texas A&M University Health Science Center, Texas A&M School of Dentistry in Dallas was founded in 1905 and is a nationally recognized center for oral health sciences education, research, specialized patient care and continuing dental education. As one of the fastest-growing academic health centers in the nation, the Texas A&M University Health Science Center encompasses five colleges and numerous centers and institutes working together to improve health through transformative education, innovative research and team-based health care delivery.
What we want
The School of Dentistry is looking for a Director, Office ofLifelong Learning and Alumni Relations who will be responsible for the planning and implementation of programs and projects that provide continuing dental education opportunities for working professionals and lifelong learners, as well as supporting alumni engagement. We are looking for a collaborative, versatile team player who is dependable and demonstrates the ability to work as a motivated self-starter. What you need to know
Salary: Commensurate based on selected hire's qualifications.
Work Schedule/Location: This is an on-site role with a typical schedule of Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm. Evening and/or weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ten years of related experience in management.

Required Knowledge, & Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong public speaking, organizational and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Earned Master's or terminal degree from an accredited institution, preferably in health services, education, business or public administration
  • Ten years of experience in health professional education programming and/or developing business plans in support of program funding.
  • Experience in a professional school setting, especially in health care (medical, dental or nursing)
  • Experience in program and business planning to include budget and logistics
  • Experience in maintaining certifications, such as American Dental Association's Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP)
  • Collaborative team approach
  • Evidence of effective planning and implementation, including coordination of logistical support for programs
  • Evidence of adept relationship building
  • Quick learner and understanding of continuing dental education market
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences and constituents
  • Strong networking skills
  • Ability to predict changes in the market and adapt appropriately

Essential Duties/Tasks:
Continuing Dental Education
  • Leads the planning, development and implementation of continuing education (CDE) initiatives for the School in a variety of modalities (in-person, online, hybrid, and blended)
  • Identifies and assesses viability of new nondegree continuing education (CDE) program opportunities
  • Determines relevant regional, corporate and community needs/desires for online and continuing education programs
  • Implements project management and business process management practices for successful and on-time launches of online and CDE initiatives
  • Prepares business plans for various projects to analyze and evaluate the business and programmatic impact of the proposed CDE programs
  • Establishes partnership agreements and provides administrative oversight over external relationships and contracts related to CDE program operations, procedures, and initiatives
  • Works closely with departments to facilitate distinct department CDE initiatives
  • Assesses and adjusts program needs based on key indicators

Alumni Affairs Programming
  • Develops program strategic plans, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for all alumni affairs activities, including annual on- and off- campus events
  • Develops and maintains strategic relationships and partnerships, serving as a champion of the School's vision and encouraging alumni involvement
  • Oversees the budget for Alumni Engagement and Alumni Association operations, including revenue and expenditures for all events, annual membership appeals, scholarship fundraisers, and other operations
  • Oversight of fundraising activities, and partners with alumni and A&M Dentistry faculty and staff to advance Alumni Relations
  • Evaluates current and pursues new affinity agreements that provide value to alumni and former students, and generates revenue
  • Oversees membership program; drives the growth of the program while promoting membership priorities throughout all other alumni activities to ensure sustainability of the association
  • Coordinates induction of graduates into the alumni community through milestone events
  • Supports School of Dentistry Alumni Association:
    • Maintains professional and frequent communication with the Alumni Association Board Members on campus activities, alumni activities and any issue which affects University alumni
    • Provides leadership in developing goals, objectives, and strategies for the Alumni Association, with an emphasis on alumni membership, scholarship support for students, and advancing key initiatives of the University

Supervisory
  • Creates an environment which ensures success of the team by hiring, training, mentoring and evaluating team members. Manages staff to establish and implement performance standards while seeking to achieve a favorable experience for all those who intersect with the department.
  • Serves on and supports committees as assigned
  • Supports and promotes collaboration and communication
  • Supports Dentistry leadership
