Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish, in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, within the Diocese of Saint Augustine, is seeking a Director of Youth Ministry. This position is currently a full-time position with a part-time assistant.

To inspire our parish community to live a life of stewardship, community involvement and faith with the grace of our Blessed Mother Mary.

Our vision is to create a loving, caring, faithful community that bears witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ through active participation in the liturgical celebrations, stewardship, Catholic education and evangelization.

The Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries administers, maintains, and develops programs for middle and high school youth (grades 6-12) and young adults (18-39). This includes the recruitment, training, coordination, evaluation, and development of adult and youth volunteers. The Director must be well-formed in the theology and spirituality of the Catholic faith and be passionate about and adept at sharing his/her faith with others.

Identify, train and support parish leadership teams of Youth and adults who, together with existing parish organizations, will implement the three goals and eight components of Youth Ministry as found in Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry, USCCB, 1997.

Identify, train and support parish leadership teams of adults who, together with existing parish organizations, will implement the four goals of young adult ministry as found in Sons & Daughters of the Light: A Pastoral Plan for Ministry with Young Adults, USCCB, 1996.

Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, or related field and/or Certification in Youth Ministry Studies is desired.

3-5 years of Youth and/or Young Adult Ministry experience is desired. Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing who models Gospel value and actively participates in parish life.

Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish is located in the coastal community of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, about 40 minutes from the city of Jacksonville. In 1972, Bishop Paul Tanner established Our Lady Star of the Sea on 12 acres along Florida A1A, with only 73 families. During the past 50 years, our parish has continued to grow and be a vital part of the local community. We currently have over 3,000 families registered and more than 40 active ministries. Palmer Catholic Academy Pre-School was founded on church property in 1991 and in 1999 Palmer Catholic Academy was established on SR 210 for grades K-8.
