Job Summary and Qualifications
The Health Information Management (HIM), Coding, and Abstraction organization within Parallon continues to transform by expanding services and improving processes with enabling Technology and analytics solutions. Reporting to the AVP, Technology and Informatics, the Director, Technology and Informatics will partner with HIM/Coding Operations, Vendor Resource Management (VRM), Coding Quality Review (CQR) and Clinical Data & Registry Abstraction (CDRA), Field Leadership, and ITG to provide direction, consultation, and oversight for technologies utilized within the HIM, Coding, & Abstraction portfolio. Additionally, the Director, Technology and Informatics will provide leadership in HIM, Coding, & Abstraction governance activities, including the creation, facilitation, and maintenance of standards, policies and procedures for ingestion, curation, sharing, and archiving.
What you will do in this role:
- Handles and maintains confidential data sources.
- Directs, coaches, and motivates team members for results.
- Performs staff reviews and prepares performance documents for direct reports.
- Successfully manage day-to-day priorities for team members to ensure proper focus and activities align with overall priorities.
- Practices and adheres to the Company’s Code of Conduct philosophy.

- Participates in project planning and leads the Technology and data execution planning pieces of the project.
- Partner with operational areas towards the creation of project and operational support documentation, such as business requirement documents, process and data flow diagrams, implementation plans and testing scripts, and reporting requirements.
- Partners with ITG product owners to ensure products meet end-user needs, business objectives, are compliant and up to date with regulatory specifications.
- Oversee the evaluation of business and user needs, documents findings and recommend changes to business processes in support of operational stakeholders.
- Assess the expected performance to delivered results to monitor success and influence future enhancements.
- Assists in administration of HIM, Coding, and Abstraction Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tools, sites, adhering to content publishing standards set forth by established governance bodies.
- Directs the ongoing monitoring and refinement of reports, as assigned.
- Maintains ownership of Technology and analytics pipeline intake with HIM, Coding& Abstraction team members, ITG BI, ITG Data Science, ITG Product Development, and other stakeholders
- Ownership of all HIM, Coding and Abstraction front end intake sources (such as Sharepoint collector sites).
- Oversees the review of incoming requests for completeness, including follow-ups on needed information and necessary research for requirements development.
- Facilitates requirements elicitation sessions using various techniques with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Fosters the translation of Technology and analytics requests into business/technical requirements to ensure business owner alignment with scope and deliverable format.
- Enforces information staying up to date to support leadership prioritization.
- Communicates routinely to Manager on any significant issues, status of projects, barriers and successes.
- Navigates between competing priorities, perspectives, and needs from business partners – guides stakeholders towards the best “collective outcome.”
- Responsible for collaborating with teams, communicating with stakeholders, and providing subject matter expertise in a fast-paced environment.
- Supervises Technology and/or data projects in collaboration with HIM, Coding & Abstraction department team members, IT BI, IT Data Science and other various roles to evaluate outcomes across enterprise.
- Collaborates with other stakeholders around opportunities for alignment with governance processes against other competing workflows.
- Engages stakeholders to resolve issues with data transmission, or to coordinate changes in file layouts or file processing.
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in analytics, business analytics, statistics, computer science or related field preferred
- Master’s degree in the above preferred
- 3 years of reporting and data analysis experience required
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency required
- Analysis of healthcare related data preferred
- Experience using market BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy, QlikView, etc., a plus
- Experience working with enterprise-sized (very, very large) data sets a plus
- Management experience preferred
